Not to be recommended - The Nubian In The Mara

Whereas we regret your experience at our tented camp and more so not meeting your holiday expectations, I'd wish to make the following comments;
We are a tented camp that offers out of the norm in-the-wild experiences. Our positioning 'Live Once. Severally' is centered on bringing out the adventurous, daring, out of the norm experience in the comfort of luxury in the bush. Our brand promise is ''to help guests experience a better, more authentic, more fulfilling life, freedom!'' That's how we want our clients to perceive us. It's hence not unusual to find guests requesting to have dinner at the leopard tree in the compound with light just from the clear night skies and lanterns to illuminate, or by the camp fire, or up Kileleoni hills. They love those unique experiences. That's what sets us apart.
Being an eco-friendly camp, we rely solely on Solar energy and all the lighting in the rooms are solar powered and are on permanently at the guests convenience. We only put on the generator on specific times. We heat our water via 'kuni' boosters and it takes a bit long to have the hot water flow once you open the tap.....

Most Importantly, we discussed all this with your booking agent to see if our product offering fits, matches and aligns with your expectations. I was positively assured.

That's not withstanding and as is customary of any booking, we were not advised on any special dietary requirements for any of your guests nor were we advised on any special care or attributes that would affect the stay and/or limit service delivery to any specific guest. Nevertheless we extended our services and tried to accommodate to the best of our supplies the special diet guests on very short notice.
The Nubian is set on a hill (Kileleoni) and hence most of the rooms would require a slight gradient walk up. We were never notified of the sick guest on check in and when we finally got to know, we arranged to move them to a more convenient room the following day. The following morning, the couple insisted on not being moved as they loved the room but only asked for more beddings which we duly provided.
Breakfast is served from 6AM-9AM with special arrangements made on request for early game drives. All breakfast is at the camp as we do not pack breakfast for guests unless for bush breakfasts. We only pack lunches and mostly sandwiches as this doesn't require warming/heating for those going on whole day game drives. Your request to pack breakfast at 4AM then come for early brunch before check out meant that we couldn't pack most of our preferred breakfast offerings.
As an integral part of our product, we take great strides in offering some of the best meals you'd get in any hotel in Maasai Mara and indeed some of your guests have noted of the delicious meals provided. We take pride in this. We offered buffet as opposed to a la carte due to the numbers and convenience of service. Food didn't run out, part portions of the buffet did which we were immediately refilling. I'd acknowledge delays in refilling but at no one time did we set aside guests to offer them left overs! We don't offer our guests left overs. Guests reviews on our food and services prove otherwise.
We highly and deeply regret your experience. We however acknowledge our limitations and areas that will and can help improve The Nubian's service delivery in our quest to being the preferred and alternate get away for the adventurous, daring and game loving seekers wishing to Live Once. Severally.
