I stayed in one of the bungalows for a week with my parents and a carer And I thought the bungalow was great. It had all the equipment we needed such as a ceiling hoist in the bedrooms and going into the bathroom, an electric profiling bed and a pressure relieving mattress. Spacious lounge/kitchen area and all the cutlery and plates was provided. Very friendly ducks from the nearby pond would be greeting us most mornings at the window which was nice. The only disappointing thing was there was no Wi-Fi, so the only way I could connect to the Internet was using mobile data on my phone which was not ideal. Overall, very nice wheelchair accessible bungalows in a peaceful and tranquil setting. Great location for a holiday in Kent! No doubt I will be back again in the future
I can't rate these holiday bungalows highly enough. There was nothing we needed to tweak for my 100% wheelchair reliant son. The accommodation was spotless, roomy and had all mod cons even a tv in both bedrooms as well as the lounge. The grounds are beautiful with large gardens housing an open air theatre (Totally wheelchair accessible and well worth getting tickets to a concert while you are there if possible) ,fountain, woodland walk and a large pretty lake. We had a Comcare care agency to bath my son whilst there and they were brilliant aswell. Competitive price aswell. This place is a gem and i wish i had found it years ago.
I stayed at one of the two Strode park holiday bungalows with my mum & dad this week; my mum has advanced alzheimers, is in a wheelchair and has high care needs. We all needed a break and this was truly wonderful! All the staff I made contact with were so helpful and concerned with us enjoying our holiday, really lovely! The bungalows are extremely clean, with large rooms and doorways etc to make them fully wheelchair friendly. The bathroom is an accessible wet room and each bungalow has a private patio and covered car port. There is a ceiling track hoist from each bedroom to the bathroom. Everything you need in terms of kitchen equipment, bedding, commode chair etc is provided - a home away from home - but bring towels and your own hoist slings; the *only* thing we really missed was a suitable chair to transfer mum to in the lounge, like a riser/recliner so she could relax out of her wheelchair safely..we realise they're not cheap though! The grounds of Strode park are very nice and tranquil, the open air theatre on site provided a good bit of entertainment for my folks (my mum was thrilled when she met 'Elvis' at the tributes concert 😊) and Herne bay, Whitstable and the surrounding areas are very nice/easy for a wander by the sea with a wheelchair. We also had some help from ComCare, the care provider based at Strode park, who were absolutely lovely and got to know my mums needs very quickly, they were a massive help! A holiday with disability considerations isn't cheap, but the experience of actually being able to go away as a family with my mum too was very special and priceless 😊…
