NAIBOR WILDERNESS (Masai Mara Ulusal Koruma Alanı, Kenya) - Konaklama Yorumları

We were a group of 6 split between main camp and Wilderness - and Wilderness simply does not match the main camp facilities. It is tired, in need of renovation and does not warrant paying the same as the main camp. There is no 'lounge' area just a basically equipped mess tent, and nowhere to sit in the tents - only camp chairs outside. Bush showers were hit & miss - either misplaced on the wood platform, couldn't be switched off or flooded the rooms. Towels were in short supply and definitely do NOT look underneath the pillow cases! Meals are a set menu, pre-served and with only one person to deliver them from the distant kitchen are lukewarm. It took 45 minutes to sort out who was in which camp, 8 hours to get a twin tent set up and 12 hours to get to talk to the Manager about issues. Individual staff were great but tired, overworked and in need of support from Management. The whole place feels like it is living on a past reputation that is no longer deserved or earned. Management need to pay more attention to detail and checking facilities are upto scratch - but Wilderness is not worth what you pay for it. Disappointing.

If you are looking for an "Uncluttered" paradise in the bush THIS is IT

Naibor Wildness camp was the absolute best for us.
We advised our agent Africa Unlocked, Albie Venter, that we were looking for a small, comfortable, good camp in the Mara.
Naibor Wilderness was that and more - we loved every minute of our 8 day stay.
The staff were outstanding, Julius was really helpful in every way. Our ranger James was excellent and the most accommodating person one could wish to find, plus he was an exceptionally good driver who found every animal and bird that we were hoping to see.
The tented accommodation was perfect - big veranda, big bedroom and good bathroom area - our bucket showers were perfect and the bed large and comfortable.
The night sounds were amazing, hippo, lion, hyena, leopard and elephant all called for us almost every night that we were there.
We watched 3 river crossings in which thousand of wildebeest, zebra and topi took part, saw lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo daily. We also saw a black rhino - all these besides a lot of general game.
This was a 'bucket list' holiday for us and we enjoyed every second. If you are planning a holiday in the Mara I REALLY recommend Naibor Camps, and if you like privacy then we suggest Naibor Wilderness as the camp has only 3 tents.

Great Place To Stay In Mara

The Wilderness Camp is a few hundred yards from the main Naibor Camp, and is wonderful. There are only three luxury tents, and it has its own dedicated staff. (Meals are prepared at, and brought from, the main Camp.) You’re free to use the main Camp for meals, etc, but we can’t imagine why anyone would. This is secluded paradise. The “tents” are very large and comfortable and have their own patio overlooking the river. And, our staff manager Julius was fabulous! He attended to all of our needs and was an absolute pleasure. The safari guides are awesome as well. We had Daudi, who is absolutely tops - excellent in every way. While there are a number of options, we booked through ATR (Africa Travel Resource). Not only were they able to accommodate our wishes exactly, but found discounts for us that we had not expected or requested. And, they followed through every step of the way to ensure a seamless and flawless trip. This was our 10th trip to Africa, and we haven’t had better service. I recommend ATR highly. If you’re thinking of traveling to the Mara, ATR, Naibor Wilderness, and Daudi are the way to go!

Good camp near the Talek River

I stayed in the Naibor Wilderness Camp for 3 nights in late January as part of a photographic Safari in the Mara. The accommodation is a basic Safari tent-style but is comfortable enough. The room is of a good size for one or two people and the bathroom facilities are also basic but adequate. For a small group, be it family, friends or a photographic Safari, the three tents of the Wilderness Camp are sufficient for purpose. The tented dining room was adequate too. The location was in woodland near a stream but not actually on the riverbank. Hippos were present in deep water pools near the camp and would graze near the camp at night. About the only wildlife we saw around our tents were some antelope and mongooses.
The staff were fantastic. Julius was responsible for our accommodation, dining room and food and beverages. He had an efficient, easy-going and friendly manner. Everything ran smoothly. Jackson was our guide and driver. With him we had some great sightings (and photo opportunities). He was very helpful and knowledgeable.
The Naibor Wilderness Camp is set up a short distance from the Naibor Main Camp which itself is situated on the riverbank with water views and easy wildlife watching (birds, hippos and the occasional crocodile in the river pools). For a single person or couple on a Safari holiday, then the Main camp should be the first choice as it is set up along the lines of a traditional Safari camp with large dining room, lounge areas, bar and shop. But for something like a specialist small group Safari the Wilderness Camp is perfectly acceptable. After all, both camps offer access to the splendid wildlife viewing of the Talk river region of the Maasai Mara.

Naibor wilderness camp

I recently stayed at the wilderness camp for a period of five nights. The camp is what the name suggests. Comprising of only three tents it can only accommodate six people, and is self sufficient. I would say that it may be a little isolated if you are a solo traveler, and with that in mind you may be better placed in the main camp. On the whole it was a very pleasant stay, a couple of minor negatives. One being the food, it was ok but very repetitive the same dessert most nights, and curry twice in five nights. The other being the hot water, although you can ask for hot water when you want it, you have to find someone to get it, and at certain times of the day this can be difficult. Luxury this camp it's not. But it's comfortable enough.
However the game viewing was exceptional and our guide could not be faulted. Thank you Jacob for some unforgettable memories.
