I stayed here with my 12 year old daughter. We wanted a smallish hotel, not a huge tower building like some of the others. The reviews were also very good for this hotel and we had read about Osman the security cat and that was what helped me decide on this hotel. The location is very good, tucked away from the busy roads but within walking distance to some of the tourist attractions and the metro station (if you wish to use it). The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and as it is quite a small hotel, you will get to know each other. We booked a room on the top floor with a terrace/balcony and the view was terrific. Our room was spacious too so it may be worth spending more for one of the 2 top floor rooms, I think they get booked up well in advance. We could sit out on our private terrace on an evening and watch the sun set over the Bosporus.
There are grocery shops nearby that you can walk to and buy drinks and snacks for cheap prices. The hotel room has a small fridge and the water is free, and there are other things in it you can buy. You can buy a Turkish sim card from the hotel reception and they will help you get set up with this. Then you can get onto Google Maps and navigate to anywhere you want to go. There are plenty of restaurants around that you can walk to and also plenty of shops for souvenirs and clothing, etc. We went to very nice restaurants and we found the prices were similar to UK prices. You can also access Uber which is handy for taxis to and from the airport, or anywhere you want to go - but if you are planning to visit somewhere that isn't very far away, then I'd advise you to consider walking, or you may find you're stuck in traffic for a while. We found a tour guide from Trip Adviser and we made use of this for a couple of days and we used the metro to get around the main tourist attractions of Istanbul.
We love Osman the security cat. He is very friendly and we let him into our room a few times, where he had a nap on the bed - my daughter loved this. We ensured we didn't let him go on the balcony as we didn't want him to get lost or injured whilst with us. He is well looked after, as all the cats in Istanbul seem to be. There are a few stray dogs around in Istanbul, but many seem to have ear tags on so must be monitored/looked after in some way. We were never approached by any dogs, and we just saw them sleeping or walking around, so it wasn't a problem.
We were glad to have stayed at this hotel for a week. Istanbul is quite hilly and we were glad we packed our trainers as we spent most days wearing them for all the walking we did. When we went in July, it was very hot and we always took a bottle of water out with us. We took a walk over the big bridge to get over to the Asian side and I would advise that if you do this, ensure you're on the correct side of the road when setting off to walk back. It's all fenced off to prevent people crossing so if you're on the wrong side, it's pretty impossible to cross the road to get to your location, and you'll end up walking all the way back in order to get onto the right side of the road.
We would recommend this hotel.

Short but sweet stay. Excellent service from booking to departure. Osman the cat was a bonus! Close walk to Galata tower, good location to explore the city. The staff members were extremely nice and helpful. They offer a welcome drink and their homemade lemonade is so good. Definitely a”must try” hotel if you want to be close to the city.

We enjoyed a quick 24 hour stay at this hotel en-route to a longer trip to some Greek islands. Even though it was only 24 hours, we were treated superbly. Each time we arrived back at the small reception area after a walk, someone appeared with a cold home made lemonade. It was very relaxing just chilling in the reception and watching Osman that cat... I am not even a cat person, and I liked this cat !
The room had an outstanding view of Suleyman Mosque and was clean and comfortable.
My favourite part of this hotel ( apart from the staff) was the breakfast. It was just a small and compact one, but all of the dips/mezze were so delicious with the simit bread.... really tasty and authentic... simplicity done well I think is the overall vibe here. We liked it. Thank you.
The room had an outstanding view of Suleyman Mosque and was clean and comfortable.

Doruk Palas is just minutes away to Galata Tower and the shopping belt on Istiklal street. There’s some construction going on in front of the hotel, so you’ll see some make-shift scaffolding across. Our spacious room on the second floor offered a nice view of the sea. They provide unlimited water, and a very good breakfast. Once you exit hotel, take the first right and then the second right and you’ll see Galata Tower. If you want to take the tram or explore the quaint, cobble-stoned gulleys of Karakoy, go to the main road (walk to the right for about 3 minutes), then just follow the road, take the underpass and follow your heart, Karakoy is a beautiful neighbourhood.

I struggle to write this review because the hotel staff here were so lovely and hospitable. In my book, a three star review doesn’t necessarily mean a bad stay, and we did ultimately have a pleasant stay at Doruk Palas with a few important caveats.
As alluded to, the staff here are, hands down, the friendliest and most helpful staff we have encountered at any hotel anywhere in the world. They genuinely make you feel welcome and cared for, and happily oblige to any request. Communication with staff is prompt through WhatsApp, and requests are filed expediently. We felt truly happy to return and be greeted by the front desk after sightseeing and exploring.
Additionally, we found the Turkish style breakfast spread lovely. While the buffet offers somewhat limited hot options, the mezze spread rivals that of many restaurants and we savored the tasty dips and salads with local, fresh bread. The kitchen also serves eggs made to order and we enjoyed an omelette we tried.
Finally, the hotel offers unlimited bottled water for guests which helps with both staying hydrated and saving money.
There are two, unfortunately, negative aspects to the hotel that did impact our stay. First, the area around the hotel does not feel safe or appealing. My wife and I are seasoned travelers and are not overly scared of our surroundings, but the neighborhood the hotel resides in is run down, very dirty, and hilly. This makes getting to the famous sights and neighborhoods around the city a chore and a little dicey in the evening hours. Furthermore, food and entertainment options are very limited within the immediate vicinity of the hotel. While the rooms do indeed boast sea views, our second floor room had an unfortunate view of an adjacent parking lot and construction site, which degraded the experience. The rooms also have thin walls which allow for outside sounds such as the barking of the local dogs to be troublesome at night.
Second, while we found the cleanliness to meet the standard, the condition and layout of the rooms themselves left something to be desired. Our room was tiny and we barely had space to fit two small carry on bags and two personal items. My wife and I were constantly tripping over each other. The furnishings within our bathroom were loose and showing rust. Overall, the rooms met the standard of a three star hotel at best rather than the four stars advertised.
Again, I hesitate to give these guys a lukewarm review as they were so sweet and kind. While we don’t regret our decision to stay here, we wish other reviews mentioned the neighborhood and size/condition of the rooms as this may have steered us in a different direction.

Yes they do. Contact the hotel and they will arrange. It was 45 euro from IST to the hotel in a large plush van. We caught a taxi back to the airport which should be 350 to 400 lira. It is easy to catch a taxi from the airport
