I had originally booked a hotel in the center of my home-town, which I was due to visit for 2 nights, but the hotel could/ would not honour the booking, so with less than a week to spare we had to find somewhere else to stay. A friend of mine contacted this B&B, and they were able to house us for the 2 nights in question, for less money than the hotel was going to charge. The B&B is as you expect in a residential home, and in this case that meant in a very typical Dutch town-house just on the outskirts of the center of town. Previous comments have been made on the steep stairs, but that is something that is very typical of the Dutch houses of the period, the houses are quite narrow, hence the stairs are steep. The house is owned by an artist (Jan) and his wife (Anna), and his art-work is everywhere in the house, from the hallway (which still has it's original flooring), to the bedrooms, and in the summerhouse in the garden. The facilities are quite basic, with a shared bathroom and a separate toilet (again a very Dutch thing), but quite adequate for what we needed. The bedding had perhaps seen better days, and the TV in the room was definitely an old one (not a modern flatscreen), but there was a fridge in the room, tea-making facilities, and a wash-basin if you did not want to use the shared bathroom. We did not have the breakfast, and were not charged for this either, which was a nice touch. All in all a pleasant experience, and the owners are very welcoming. Tip: if you need to park up, the owners can supply you with a visitors parking permit.…
