Came upon this when we moored up in Cookham a few years ago, happened to be a Saturday which was a real treat as I have always been obsessed with Arts and Crafts and love fabrics. Someone else has left only one star because they have unisex changingrooms- well, sorry lady, but I think you were in the wrong place.... no need to change here unless you'd had " an accident" I shall have to return again to learn more of John Lewis now that my daughter is a manager there- but I know that the ethos of JLP has always been about teamwork and staff wellbeing- hence they offer subsidized stays at the wonderful Odney Club next door. But the Heritage Centre is for everybody, and as someone else observed is free- Do go!

Mixed sex changing rooms with no privatecubicles. Women be warned. Both changing rooms mixed sex. Men getting undressed when I was there. I went to a small toilet to get dressed. This was a really upsetting experience for me and my mum. Not at all relaxing and really surprised JL not thinking about women, and men's, need for single sex changing areas.

Nice place to visit and very friendly partners to welcome you. It is a good place to see how the company developed and gives you the history of how it became a partnership and you can see the old patterns and designs.

Visited for the sculpture exhibition as part of the Cookham Festival. Somewhat disappointed that, in such a fabulous setting, tea was served in paper cups and tea bags only - it would have made such a difference to have had a proper teapot and cups! But hey. The sculpture exhibition was interesting and it's an amazing garden to wander around.

Beautiful countryside and river walks. Great to take the kids and dogs, Very picturesque. Odney Club rooms and cafe are members only but the Heritage Centre and grounds are open to all.

Well worth a visit into the companies past. Informative staff who gave us a great insight into the Passat. Worth a visit

We walked here as a last minute decision one Saturday and were very glad we did. We were shown round the textiles area by a very informative lady. Who knew textiles could be so interesting!
The other areas showing the history of John Lewis were also very interesting, if not a little chaotic in terms of their layout.
Would recommend for a visit.

A short walk from the town and you end up surrounded by a well kept area that feels like the countryside. When i reached the centre the architecture of the building was really impressive, has a very modern feel for a building containing such old documentation. The staff were very knowledgeable and passionate about the company and what it stands for. It's in no way an entire day out but what you can learn in a short visit is valuable, especially if you work in the retail sector as John Lewis's values and goals would be great if practised more commonly across business's today.

The staff are so helpful, knowledgable and gonthat extra mile. The respective stories of the beginnings of Waitrose and John Lewis are fascinating. John Spedan Lewis was the kind of visionary we could do with now to run our country. He had an enormous social conscience.
