Lovely country pub. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Modern, clean & friendly. We went in evening. Arrived for pre drinks. Ordered from bar. Choice of restaurant upstairs (more formal dining area) or bar area downstairs to eat. We chose bar. Food presented well. Wholesome, tasty and good value.

Came out for a few drinks and had some food also, George went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time whilst we were there, will definitely be returning!! Thankyou again george

This was a fantastic find a small village off the A46.. A nice bright environment with a couple of locals having a chat and a beer, very friendly. The young chap behind the bar ‘George’ was delightful, we dropped in for lunch breaking up the long journey. Food was terrific and sensible priced. Certainly would revisit if passing again.

Excellent … new menu with great choice, great portion size and great value. Lovely friendly local pub for all the family … menu has a wide choice and good portion size.

Lovely evening meal last night. Between us we had the pork belly, steak pie, Caesar salad & chicken burger - empty plates all round & the girls loved the puddings too. New chef obviously knows his stuff! Lovely staff & service too.

You have to order the Steak & Ale pie. Delicious 😋. The staff are attentive and efficient, the bar area is clean and there is a lovely outside seating area (for when the sun shines) . We will be back.

We came on a Wednesday night for dinner, we sat downstairs in the bar and the place was really busy with everyone eating. Food was spot on and just what we needed. We then realised it was quiz night so we stayed and we had so much fun! What turned into a quick bite to eat turned it to a fantastic night. We will definitely be back! We got told they do bingo nights to so will have to check that out as well!

We came for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint! Warm friendly welcome at the bar before we headed upstairs to the restaurant. We was greeted by another waiter with a craft of water without having to ask witch was a lovely touch. We went straight for mains and all went for the beef. It was spot on nice and pink in the middle. we had lots of vegetables all cooked to perfection. was really nice to see there was red cabbage. We finished by having the sticky toffee to share and that was defiantly enough to share! it was huge! We can not wait to return, so we have already booked again for next month!

Just left chequers at elston. I can honestly say the Sunday lunch I have just had a the chequers at elston was the worst meal I have ever had. Nil vibe - one other table taken in restaurant. Meal was totally inspirational. Piled high with nil attention to detail. Soggy Yorkshire. Poor mash gets smashed type of food! The waiter left the bottle of wine on table. Never poured. Asked if our meal was ok; it wasn’t; he could see we’d left 99%, and wasn’t bothered to why. Service poor. Don’t entertain.
