Great local native american history close by

The Chumash Indian Museum has something for all ages. Great artifacts and insight into how the Chumash Indians lived in harmony with nature in the Conejo Valley. Hunting, fishing and farming tools were interesting and the museum was not crowded even though we visited on Thanksgiving weekend.

The museum has several life sized reproductions of Chumash life that is interesting for kids. It is a small museum and the entrance fee is nominal. There are also hiking trails behind the museum with replicas of the Chumash Village. The Village burned down in the recent fire, but should reconstructed soon. My grandkids had a wonderful time in the museum and on the hiking trails. There is a nice gift shop with a variety of inexpensive items and books.

Visit The Chumash Indian Museum in Thousand Oaks! It is awesome! I highly recommend visiting this museum! This museum has both indoor and outdoor parts. I live just minutes away from here and I’ve visited the Chumash Indian Museum many times!

Tucked away - but worth the trip, this museum it great for kids and shows in natural setting the true life of our Native Americans. Very much worth the trip !!

Pretty Quaint
A fun little museum with a cute museum. Easy to find, be sure you check hours before you go. A good little hike and there is a cave.

A bit boring

The 'museum' is just one room with dummies posed as if they were going about their daily life.

There is not much else here and it is not worth the entry fee.

The outdoor 'exhibits' are of the same interest level.

The ONLY saving grace is that the park in which the 'museum' is situated is amazing.

Shaded woodland trails, mostly on the level make for a really nice walk.

Downside, no dogs allowed even on a leash.

Great local place to learn and explore for any age individual to get info on local natives. Get indoor and outdoor space. Low key. Worth the time.

Really small museum with few exhibits, good information on the Chumash tribe. The outdoor village is awesome, and the hiking trail behind the museum is a must.

More for adults than kids

I would say that this is more of an adult attraction. Although the museum does a lot of school trip events, I cannot see the appeal.

The 'museum' is basically a one room diorama and the outdoor pieces are underwhelming.

Now adults will get more just but the whole place is not very engaging.

A saving grace is that the museum is situated in a lovely park area if you are up for a nice stroll. The park is well shaded as opposed to the local hill walks so it is nice on a hot, sunny day.

Nice small museum with local hiking trails

Went to go hiking in the area and saw this small museum. I can spend hours in a place just reading and wandering around. It is a nice place to cool down after a hot afternoon of hiking.
