very bad experience, a tiny beach full of garbage, vendors in the saddle who do not let you go . we stayed there 30 minutes... time nevertheless to do some snorkling and see pretty fish . but there is so much better!

Total disappointment. Dirty sea full of plastic, beautiful but not very colorful corals, lots of people, including us, crowded in a small bay.

The snorkeling here is absolutely amazing! Coral is so colourful & healthy. The most wonderful assortment of different types of fish. Just beautiful. Water so clear. We went by boat & snorkelled from it.

This was such a beautiful hidden gem many years ago... But now it turned into a victim of the commercialized, mass tourism machinery. There, where was a beautiful beach until the forest, they built ugly concrete terraces with sun beds for rent with a restaurant on top. The tiny stripe of beach which is remaining is spoiled with trash. In the lagoon are 10 to 20 snorkel tour boats parking which polluting the air with carbon monoxide from running engines. The reef is almost dead, far outside there are few spreaded corals remaining, but also spoiled with trash. It's not a reef anymore as it used to be long time ago. It is a shame how a former paradise gets distroyed for a short term profit, but coming generations can not gain of it cause no tourist want to see a coral cemetry

Great snorkelling. Healthy coral that will last longer if people respect it by not standing on or touching it !!!!
Parked our scooter at the top. Pay your 2000k to the shop as you turn in.
Steps that are fairly easy to navigate down to the small beach.
Nice warung close by has fair prices and sunbeds for hire on a concrete deck.
Not a large beach and a shame it is not cleaned. There is a bit of rubbish around that spoils what could be a beautiful cove.
A few boat trips turn up but not overly busy.
Recommend water shoes.
Really enjoyed it.

We visited Bali in January 2018. It became Christmas during my midnight ride from the airport to Padangbai. First two nights we stayed at OK Divers. Excellent! Make your reservations in advance. We hired a boat to take us around to the bay at Blue Lagoon beach. We snorkeled off the boat and I hovered over a sea anemone until Nemo came out!! Colorful fish of many types would swim by in schools. This was a few years ago, but we did not see any of the floating trash near the beach that another commenter related here. The next two nights were at the Bloo Lagoon Eco Village (spelling is correct). Rustic and beautiful, and the covered but open restaurant offered an excellent view of the then active volcano across the bay.

Such a shame to see so much rubbish floating in the water and along the beach. I’m surprised that the operators of the cruise vessels don’t try and clean up and educate the customers about how damaging plastics are to marine life and the danger to coral of flippers.
Ps our group got a severe attack from sea lice in this lagoon.

Blue Lagoon beach in Padang Bai was a beautiful snorkelling spot. Crowded with boats though so watch out for them. The snorkelling is fabulous, clear water and so many fish and corals. The beach is a bit rough so we came down the stairs and entered the water from the far left hand side. Much easier that way. We went by taxi from Candidasa so left our belongings in one of the warungs at the top. Lunch was really good in the warung as well.

hi i went here in January 2024 i have few points to help others that i observed
1-- no need to get a tour just rent a car or a scooter and go there your self a very nice drive i rented a car so nice and easy and you can stop along the way good spots for pics .
2-- when you get there there are many shops and many people are sitting around offering you a boat to take you to to spots for snorkeling , completely ignore them .
3-- go straight there is a street along the beach one side is the car park don't park your car there drive to the opposite side and turn left .
4--- it will take you up a hill and then turn left where you will be stopped as there is a car park there they charge 5000 local currency you can park your car there for scoters its less money .
5--- park your car and there are stairs going down to the beach
6--- as you go down you will find local women will try to sell you stuff expect rip off prices
7-- once you keep going down you will see a little restaurant and you can rent the gear there the rate what she gave me was 50k for flippers and goggles - but then this price can be negotiated i was able to negotiate her for a better price .
8---go down to the beach find a spot and get in
9-- depends on the day and tides you will see fish for sure depends if you go a little deeper that's where you will see many fish but if you stay very shallow you will still see fish but not many .
10-- once you are finished you return your gear make sure don't loose the stuff as can happen with the tide if you loose they will charge you two times and can get extensive then so be careful place your snorkeling gear at a spot where the waves cant get to
11--- once you walk back after returning the gear they ask for 15000 per adult for shower and 5000 for renting the bathroom bit off a rip we did not use it and took our own towels and were able to get rid off most of the sand and then when you get back to you hotel have a shower or if you are happy to pay the 15000 that's your choice but i also noticed the locals were not charged that price the were charged much lower price .
12--- when i rented the snorkeling gear there was no time limit but i guess it depends if the beach is busy then they might put restrictions on you - also if you can take your own snorkeling gear better as the gear that they give you is not the best and water gets in so not the best experience but it works .
pay the parking and that's it drive back .
a good day
we went with kids they had fun
they seen many fish so it was a successful trip
many locals will try to sell you everything and try to be your mate remember they are only talking to you as they want your money they are not concerned about your welfare
and when you go to the beach you will notice the people who try to sell you the boat trip also bring all people to the same point where you are coming through the beach so its all a rip off scam so just go and do it your self instead of paying them for a boat trip
you can also rent life jackets there as well for 25000 local currency which can be negotiated depending on how many you are getting (( when i asked her can yo do a better price she first said no as she said you are a tourist so i have to charge you more you are not a local )) but because i was getting many i was able to get a better price..
have fun a good experience for sure

Careful! We arrived just after lunch in Padang Bai and were keen to get started snorkelling. The Blue Lagoon is a 5-7 minute walk up hill then downhill from town. Easy to get to. You can rent gear at the Warungs there. Strongly recommend beach shoes to get into the water over the rocks in the middle or rockshelf slightly to the right of middle. Its a relatively tough entry from the beach when waves are up.
But, a warning. If the tide is on the way out and its a relatively rough day, currents are very strong. We are quite experienced snorkellers. Be very careful if you aren’t. Look at the conditions and how others are going entering and exiting the water first, before you start. We struggled a fair amount before realising conditions weren’t right. Coming back in I got a coral scratch a few centimetres long on my leg. It is challenging.
Be safe especially with children or of inexperienced! Best conditions are in the morning or when the tide is not going out.

Seen a lot of photos with fish and coral all beautiful and nice blue clear water, is it really like this? How far out is the boat ride before they like you snorkel?
Yazıldığı tarih: 12 Kasım 2018
If you are at the blue lagoon beach, the water is like that & you see fish as soon as you enter the water. Swimming a few metres out, you see loads of fish.
You do not need to get a boat from padang bai. From padang bai, it's a 10 min walk (albeit uphill) to the beach.
The boats at padang bai charge a stupid amount to basically take you round the corner. Not worth it imo.

I paid about IDR 300,000 by Uber.. There was small place had 2 cafe. range about 50 m? I think there was no boat and the snorkel equipment can borrow at the cafe. There was good beach, but want to visit only there, that's not recommand. we visit there on our way to Gili island.

hi castlerune, im sorry bit late to reply . by cab from kuta you will pay around 300 rupiah but more cheap if you using a grab or online taxi just around 175 rupiah.
you can snorkel or just walk to find that place no need to hire the boat. only if you want to diving so you need to hire boat around there.
I hope that can help you.
