Wonderful surprise. So well kept and recreation of old halt. Immaculate and many great touchs. Adjacent play area and lovely walks.

I have seen many restored railway stations/ Halts and this is right up there with the best.
This particular Halt is situated on the Alban way about 4 miles from St Albans and about a mile from the Galleria in Hatfield.
Mike Izzard has done a great job..... Its a shame Smallford station could not receive some attention as this walk is beautiful.
Plenty of places to sit and there is a children's play park alongside.
Well worth a nosey if you're a train fan.... Or even not.

Lovely restored railway halt, with lots of history boards, track and railway posters. There is a playground opposite and it is on the Alban Way a former railway turned into a walking, running and cycling route running from Hatfield to St Albans with linked footpaths.

This charming slice of railway history is beautifully laid out with many artefaces and clear descriptions presenting its role as a railway halt. Well worth a visit.

Nast Hyde Halt is just on the edge of Hatfield. If you walk along the Alban Way from Hatfield Galleria it will only take you about 15 minutes to reach it.
The station has been beautifully restored and the platform is well presented with the station sign and hedges. There is also a tiny piece of railway track to remind you that trains used to run along this route.
There are lots of signs and posters to check out at the station and in the area. Watch out for ghost trains!
Hats off to Mike who has done an AMAZING job of looking after the station.

Worth a visit if you're in the area - historic railway platform (ghost station) which has been restored to an impeccable standard by the amazing local postie! Lovely spot for a bit of local history and on a great cycle route

Situated on the Alban Way (cycle route 61), near Hatfield, is an old railway station named Nast Hyde Halt railway. This halt (basically a single platform) has been lovingly restored over the last few years by Mike, a local postman. A well as the platform, Mike has tidied up a reasonable section of the Alban Way: adding nesting boxes, train / railway related signs, in the process creating something of interest to both railway fans and everyone else.
Recently a section of track of laid commemorating 50 years since its dismantlement. The train line was in operation from 1865 to 1968, but was dismantled 1969.

I was reading online that the inspiration for restoring this railway station came from the restoration of Whethampstead's railway station at the top of the village (I added Wheathampstead's on Trip Advisor aswell).
It's a lovely little station platform with a section of track and some old signs dotted about the place. It can be found by walking/running/cycling down the Alban Way Cycle Route from the Great North Road in Hatfield. It's just by Ellenbrook Playing Fields where Ellenbrook Road intersects the Cycle Route.
It's such a shame that Lord Beacham decided to close all the railway lines. How useful would that line be now the population has almost doubled!?!
Unless you're a railway/train enthusiast, it's not worth making a special trip to see but if you're close-by, or travelling down the Alban Way Cycle Route, it's worth a quick stop-off to see it.
