We tried to visit Manitou Spring in September but could not find a parking place. I mean anywhere. We drove around for 40 minutes and left. We went back this week (in November) got there early on a Saturday and found a parking place in a paid lot. $8 for 4 hours. If we had been 2 hours later we would have been in the same boat as the first try.
Now that we are parked we are ready to discover Manitou Springs.
One of the first things I noticed were the signs in just about ever store window. "NO Public Restrooms". Hmm Ok should not be a problem... That actually did become a problem later when we had to go and struggled to find a bathroom.
We walked the entire town and discovered the vast majority of shops are your typical souvenir shops sporting, for the most part, items with "Colorado" placed on them in some fashion. Shirts (all made in Pakistan), the wooded bears that everyone brings home from Colorado (made in China). Coffee mugs (made in china) Over and over, one shop to the next, the same tourist traps fleecing the sheep that came to Colorado to see the west.
If there is a part of Colorado left that has not been destroyed by commercialization we have yet to find it. Yes the town is cute but in my opinion it lacks any real substance once your there. The old arcade can provide some relief from the souvenir shops however if you go when it is crowded (just about anytime) be prepared to wait, and fight through the crowd to put your money in a machine.
I hate that this review is negative because I really wanted to like Colorado. It is however accurate. Some people will be pleased with the experience Manitou Springs provides because the vast majority of tourism in the US has become that same commercialized, watered down, vastly over crowded experience from what it was even 20 years ago. The new normal so to speak. We would not go back to Manitou Springs unless we were looking for T shirts as they do boast a good selection, although they all come from Pakistan so I suppose we could just order them online and save the parking headache.

Be sure to stop here if you visit Manitou Springs! They have a Springs tasting tour...they will give you a cup and you walk through town looking for all the Springs to taste. We only liked one of the Springs, the rest we thought were gross. BUT maybe you will like them. The lady here is super nice and helpful. Definitely a must stop.

We really enjoyed stopping. The springs tour and tasting cup was a hoot! We enjoyed traveling around Maintou Springs and tasting all the mineral springs. The person working was incredibly helpful and friendly, and really welcomed us to the area.

The women in the office were very nice and very informative. Their recommendations and brochures are based on who pays a fee to be a part of it, so in that sense it is a bit biased.

We were there less than an hour to get burgers at Border Burger Bar and mistakenly parked on a side street. The restaurant staff was amazing so this review is not about them. I was rewarded with a $70 ticket. There were no signs and apparently they only focused on out of town visitors, as anyone without a Colorado license plate got ticketed. This is a scam! Do you ticket the cars of friends and family that visit the locals? Also, If you want to pay it as soon as possible, you have to pay an additional $3.50 to pay online or by phone. We planned on returning before we flew back home, but this is all of my money Manitou Springs is getting from me. Visitors, go to Colorado Springs where they treat tourists better.

Creo que tendría que estar situado en el centro de la ciudad; aquí se halla en zona medio despoblada, pero muy cerca de donde el colectivo 3 de Colorado Springs combina con la línea local.

We dropped in to the Visitors Bureau to pick up a map. The lady who helped us was super friendly and provided lots of useful information and suggestions which we would not have known about. I highly recommend going there if you are not that familiar with the town and the area.

The lady answered our questions about the springs we were looking for and gave us good tips about them. Also helpful maps and even cups to taste-test the water at each spring.

We were at the Visitors Bureau for about 5 minutes. We learned a lot from a super lady who was glad to help us out. We got lots of helpful hints on how to do Manitou Springs and the surrounding area. The free shuttle also stops there, so there's that!!

We were amazed at how much information this place had on Manitou Springs. I grew up in Colorado Springs, but had never stopped by this place until now, and glad I did.

Hello, I'm trying to plan a family trip between the dates of October 24 thru 29. Is this a good time to visit so late in the year. Will shops and restaurants be open? Thanks
