Shir Kuh(Taft) peak with 4075 meters height in Yazd province, which is located in the center of Iran and is surrounded by desert on all sides. Shir Kuh Peak is one of the 1515 most prominent peaks in the world. Although it is mentioned in terms of the division of the individual mountains of Iran, it is in fact part of the central mountain range. Due to its proximity to desert, this peak has strong and dry winds on some days of the year.

October 3rd. So I arranged a driver to pick me up at 6 am in the morning and come back at 5pm. Started the hike at 7 am, found 2 trails on Maps.me, if you are planning to use it, stick to the trail on the right side, gradual climbing up until you reach the bottom of the huge canyon like rock. From there you will pass some trees to reach the spring. The hardest part starts from there. Steep and slippery surface for the next 800m or so. Once you reached the top, it is 15min easy walk to the shelter at 3500m, then another 1.5 hours to the summit. You will notice the tower( antenna?) from the shelter. Welcome.

When you reach at the top of the mountain you feel peaceful, excited and calm. It feels as if you've accomplished everything after climbing the mountain. The sun somehow feels like a blessing. The view at the top is spectacular. It was one of the best experience of my life.

What an amazing experience ! Iran's moutain are so beautiful, we were alone in the spectacular nature ! If you have the occasion to discover that place, don't hesitate a minute ! Alone it's a bit tricky, it's better with a guide.

Chouettte possibilité de randonnée sur le mont Shirkooh, parfois dure à lire en arrivant proche du sommet (dans la neige). Si vous désirez être accompagné, Mazi Mandegar (+989134533833) est une guide expérimentée de la région.

Une très belle randonnée que nous conseillons! La vue d'en haut est fabuleuse
Nous sommes partis sans guide.
Départ de Yazd à 7h en taxi, début randonnée 8h depuis Deh Bala.
Effectivement c'est très bien balisé, suivre les panneaux métalliques qui indiquent le refuge intermédiaire.
Arrivée au 1er refuge 10h15 puis sommet à 12h30.
Nous avons pu faire une belle pause pour admirer la vue puis redescendre tranquillement en 3h.
En gros c'est une rando sans aucune difficulté technique, pas de matériel spécifique à part des bonnes chaussures car la marche entre le refuge et le sommet se fait dans la boue et la neige.
NB: on a 25-30 ans, en bonne forme mais pas des randonneurs de l'extrême.
NB2: n'oubliez pas votre crème solaire, ça tape fort là haut!

Shirkooh" means "lion mountain" because of its shape. The peak height is about 4075 m. mountaineering on Shirkooh isn't neither hard nor easy however, it's a challenging climbing!!!

Plutôt bien balisé, l'ascension est agréable et sans difficulté (3h30 de montée, 1h30 de descente pour ma part).
Attention à la photo : ce que l'on voit ici est la vue depuis ShirKuh, en tous cas le sommet balisé et pour lequel on trouve les informations.
