The cable car will take you to the top of the mountain, the car operates twice every hour and will take you to the top. The view was breathtaking, we didn’t get to go at night so we missed the night view. And there’s also a shrine on top for you to make wishes

We took the 10 minutes cable car ride to the top of Mt Tengu. You can see the panoramic view of Otaru city and the ocean beyond. It was a very pretty site.
There is also a shrine and small park here. There are also trails around here where you can go hiking.

There are three mountains in Hokkaido that can be climbed using a ropeway: Hakodate, Sapporo's Moiwayama, and Otaru's Tenguyama. The smallest of these is Tenguyama. I wasn't able to see the night view from Tenguyama, but I think it's the best place to see the night view of Otaru.

I went on a day trip to Otaru and went to Mt Tengu during day time. Big mistake on my part. The ropeway is very pricey for such a short ride and when you get to the summit its just an obervations building and a few other oberservation points scattered along a path. Sure you will get a nice view of Otaru but nothing spectacular.
Right next to the ropeway is the ski slope so you basically just went up a ski slope and looked down :P
The ski lift is actually jsut on the other side of the slope.
Also the squirrel park is just a small enclosure with 1 squirrel. Well at least only 1 when I was there.
In my opinion Mt Moiwa in Sapporo is much better for the view and the only thing Mt Tengu has over Mt Moiwa is the ocean. However things may change at night. So if you go to Otaru I recommend you plan so you do Mt Tengu last in the evening and also dont go too early to Otaru as the rest of the sights is also not that much.

Went up during winter. The cable car ride up was smooth. The view from the top was excellent with a view to the canal and water breaker when the sky is cleared. On a good weather day it would be worth while to trek the forest just behind the cable car station.

Quick and frequent direct buses to and from Otaru station can take you to this really gorgeous view - be sure to view it by day and by night. Options for ziplining and hot air ballooning as well. Cool Tengu shrine and display (if you're into Tengu)...kind of lame ski museum and overpriced restaurant. Still, a must-see in Otaru on a clear day/night.

ロープウェイで小樽市内と日本海が一望できる天狗山展望台（北海道三大夜景）まで約4分。12分間隔の運行。往復1,400円。
ホテルの近くのバス停からバスに乗って山麓駅に行きました。（バスは小樽駅前にもとまります）夕暮れに山頂に到着し、レストランで軽く食べて、夜景を楽しみ、ロープウェイ最終便の混み合う前に、下山しました。
屋上展望台もありますし、レストラン外にはベンチもありますが、山頂には蚊が多いので、虫除けスプレーした方がゆっくり見られます。
北海道三大夜景というには灯が少ない感じ。

小樽に来たからには、行きたかった観光地。
夜景を見に来ました、冬場はスキー場なので駐車場も広く、路線バスでも訪れる事が出来ます。

ロープウェイで海と小樽市内を見ながら、天狗山駅に到着します。到着した天狗山の駅周辺には、開運の天狗の大きなお面が祀られ、遊歩道を散策することができます。駅売店は、GOTOトラベルクーポンも使える土産物屋と軽食レストランが有り、ゆっくりと景色を眺めることができます。朝里川温泉にも近くて便利です。

小樽運河ターミナルからバスに乗り、更にロープウェイに乗り行きました。
天狗桜展望台、第二展望台、第三展望台、山頂展望台など いくつか展望台があり、それぞれの景色を楽しめます。
天狗山神社 鼻なで天狗さんもあり見所もおおいです。ちなみに９月限定でロープウェイ往復1090円と破格でした。数分ですが絶景を拝めます。コロナ対策でシールドが貼られ席も間引かれてましたがすいていたので問題ありませんでした。

Hi there, so we spent about 1 1/2 hrs up on the mountain, which was long enough. There is a restaurant there so you could have lunch or dinner. I’m not sure what the running hours are for the cable car, but it will run all day and into the night. Hope this helps.

At the main train station, there is a bus terminal in the front where you can purchase a bus ticket and Mt Tengu ski lift at a discount. Catch the bus there at the station. It's about 15 mins up.

Hi there, I'm visiting Mt Tengu in the coming September with family members of 7 in total. Would like to inquire for the ticket price for example the entrance fee and return gondola fee. Is the ticket price base on individual or are there any family or group ticket? As well as the operation hour during that season please. Cheers!
