We had an amazing time at the avanos pottery workshop. The pottery workshop was very fun and engaging! The experience and friendliness of the instructors made it a memorable experience and one we would repeat in a heartbeat. The workshop is family run and owned and has been passed down through generations - something that is shown in their hospitality and skill! The class and visit is a must do if you're in the region.

What a fun way to spend a couple of hours! So enjoyed working with Davut to craft a vase. Interesting to learn (difficult to replicate!) the techniques for shaping and smoothing the clay. The shop also has many beautiful pieces to purchase.

This was an amazing experience and a highlight to our holiday. Would definitely recommend and great value for money! Emrullah and Davut who run it are lovely and great at coaching you through the pottery making, whilst making it fun!
We were very pleased with our final products to take home! Even tempted to go again if we had enough space in our suitcase for more!

Best thing we've ever done! DO NOT HESITATE IN BOOKING.
We booked online and drove to Avanos ourselves. As two British ladies, we did not know what to expect. Davut greeted us and offered refreshments. He then gave us a demonstration before we gleefully stepped into some overalls/pants to protect our clothes. We were given our own clay and potter's wheel and we were off. Davut kept a watchful eye on us and encouraged according to where our creativity wanted to go. After a few failed attempts, we mastered the clay well enough to make our own piece, which Davut is going to 'fire' and cargo to us. Most interestingly, Davut's family are master potters and have been for decades. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling around the small exhibition area where we were under no pressure to buy. (I couldn't help myself as I wanted some plates and other gifts for my family.) As it was only two of us, we were under no time constraints and easily passed a few hours. Both of us loved it! [For info, we booked via the GetYourGuide app which was easy and efficient.]

On holiday in Cappadocia, an area renown for it's pottery, we certainly had to give it a go!
This was the first time on a pottery wheel for my friend and I and what a laugh!
We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were so pleased that we shared this unforgettable experience together.
Davut, our teacher, put us at ease straight away and with his expert tutelage we were able to 'master' the wheel and produce vases that were recognisable as such 🤣
This was definitely one of my most memorable moments!
Would certainly recommend you also give it a go!!!

Intricate and detailed workmanship second to none. Beautiful pieces all hand made using traditional method. You can imagine how costly they can be. We were given a demonstration of pot turning set in a cave house with 97 rooms.

My partner and I had the most amazing time at the pottery workshop. Hassan and Davut made the experience incredibly fun through their enthusiasm and joy for pottery.
The class kickstarted with some refreshments followed by a demonstration from master Davut! We then took turns to carve out a sculpture of our choice with the help of Davut which was very enjoyable, before then taking home our masterpiece. One thing to note is that if you’re planning on taking your pottery on a flight then it’s best to allow for at least a day to let the pottery dry and harden.
Finally whilst in the area we also explored the town of Avanos since we were staying in Cappadocia. If you’re visiting this part of the world I would 100% recommend this memorable and fun experience!Thank you Hassan and Davut!

One of our most favourite memories of Cappadocia, couples pottery making workshop!
Huge huge thank you to our host Hasan and our pottery teacher Davut, who masterfully taught us how to shape the clay into a bowl and a vase.
They were also so kind that they offered us Turkish tea or Apple tea at various points of the experience and truly it was delicious.
First of all Davut demonstrated to us the most important of marriage rituals in Avanos: making a perfect sugar bowl (to show mastery of pottery making) and ensure that the man would be capable of having a profitable pottery business.
Then we were guided through a 20 min hands on pottery making session where we were able to make a bowl and a vase, amongst other items.
Our advice would be to allow 24h between this workshop and your flight to allow your artwork to dry and harden to make it easier to take back with you in the flight, as we did. They provided us with bubble wrap and cardboard boxes to help us wrap up our creations once they had dried in 24h.
And then we were able to admire their pottery collection and buy some of their items handcrafted by their pottery masters. We were so much more impressed with the intricate and delicate pottery after having made basic pottery and seeing how difficult those designs must be.
And on top of that, they were so kind to offer a significant discount as we had done the pottery making experience.
All in all this is one Workshop you definitely can't leave Cappadocia without doing and Hasan and Davut are 100% they best people to experience this with!

We made pottery with them and it was amazing. We didn't keep our pots because we had very limited space but We could but some amazing small ceramics from them
