Walking into Central Hong Kong from Sun Yat Sen park. Nice greenery in the city. Saw some charity race. Facilities just like all others are very clean

One of the highlight points in Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park was promenade. The panoramic harbour’s view and landmarks in West Kowloon could be admired. Chime Tower, reflecting pond plaza and modern sculptures were characteristic in the park. Besides, memorial lawn was a good place for relaxation and such park was suitable for the family also. The park was urban park and the location was convenient - there was about 5 minutes walking from Macau Ferry Bus Terminus.

One of the nice features of the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park is the promenade which now forms a link in the chain of Victoria Harbour waterfronts, extending sea facing leisure and recreation space from Central all the way out to Kennedy Town.
The promenade section of the park is around 300 metres in length. There is a fountain pool, sculpture installations, a few planted palms and bench seating near the water. It is a wide section, nicely surfaced with excellent views of the harbour. As it is located amongst a park, there is quick access to grassy fields, children's playground areas and public toilets as well.
Note: The series of small promenades west of the Macau Ferry Terminal (Shun Tak Centre) includes this Sun Yet-Sen Memorial Park and three relatively new promenade sections including Fung Mat Road Waterfront Open Space (also called WE), Central & Western Wholesale Food Market Section and the latest to open - Belcher Bay Promenade.

This is a large, open park beside the waterfront in the Sai Ying Pun and Sheung Wan areas. For most tourists, it is a little out of the way and there are other better, more centrally located parks like Hong Kong Park and the Botanical and Zoological Gardens.
What this park offers that most others don't, is open, grassy areas although, depending on the time of day, these areas can be taken up with coaches, mini-soccer training and other such activities.
Palm trees, a water feature and modern sculptures line the promenade along the waterfront and you have an uninterrupted view of the harbour.
The most prominent feature of the park is the 5 metre tall statue of Dr Sun Yat Sen who is recognised as the founder of the modern Republic of China. A revolutionary who brought about the end of the Qing dynasty and dynastic rule, he was the first Provisional President of the Republic of China, 1911-1912.
Interestingly, he spent his teenage years in Hong Kong, finished secondary and tertiary schooling here and studied medicine at the HK University. He declared the university to be his “intellectual birthplace”.
For those interested, the Sun Yat Sen Historical Walking Trail can be downloaded from the HK Tourism Board website and the Sun Yat Sen Museum is nearby.
Access to the park can be difficult because of the very busy roads in front of it but you can cross over safely at the flyover. Entry to the park is free.

The Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park is located along the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Sai Ying Pun just west of the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan. Formerly known as Western Park, this is a small leisure area that now pays hommage to Dr. Sun Yat Sen, known as the founder of the Republic of China.
Here you will find a large grassy lawn with a 5 metre tall bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yet Sen, the work of artist Zhu Dacheng. You can also see a traditional Chinese gateway entrance on the south of the lawn, a Chime Tower, reflection pool and structures on the promenade side next to the harbour. The park also includes a public swimming pool, football pitch, basketball court, children's playground area.
In the end, Hong Kong is always in need of urban parks and green space like the Sun Yet Sen Memorial Park and this is a good spot for those place for those who reside nearby to get off the busy streets to enjoy some grassy space and promenade waterfront on the harbour. For visitors, it is just fine as well. However, there are larger and more interesting parks not terribly far from here as well, most notably Hong Kong Park and the Hong Kong Zoological & Botanical Gardens in Central. These are better parks to target first.

This is a great park with great views of the Waterfront of Kowloon and watching the ferry traffic go by on the water. The park is part of an expansive waterfront promenade from Macao ferry terminal to Kennedy Town. This park is located between Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun. There are people there day and night fishing walking their dogs, running and doing Tai Chi. Perfectly safe at all hours. The underground expressway to Kowloon and Lantau and Hong Kong airport passes unnoticed under the park.many nice angles for photos. Rest rooms, water fountains and vending machines available. No snack bars.

While our hotel is across the street from the park, I had to walk two blocks to find a place to cross over/under the many streets between us and the park. Once at the park, I found a nice padded exercise area with various equipment. It is near the swimming pool (which I did not visit). The concrete path around the center grass area has various cities with their longitude and latitudes along with some date (no idea why). The park goes to the water's edge, so expect some chilly breeze.
