Okay but really small
Most of the building is now an Apple store - enter on the K-street side to get immediately to the stairs. Upstairs, there are two small one room exhibits, at least one of which rotates. There's also what looked like a library. In the basement was a one room exhibit with photos of the history of the building. (Also in the basement were restrooms and an accessible entrance.)

It's not bad and the exhibits are nice enough but there just really isn't much there except for the (very nice) building. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop.

An interesting place that will take you back in time.
This museum had a lot of photos and a mural showing dates that events took place in Washington, D. C. from when it was first settled to present. There is no admission and no guided tours, but it is worth checking out.

A great new DC History Center - not just another Apple store!
Please take your time and visit this well-done museum (modesty aside). There are exhibits throughout the building, including the Guastavino ceiling room downstairs, and two exhibits upstairs. Visit the website for programs, and there is a great research library available by appointment. A novel thing in the 21st century! And yes, there's a retail store. Please support the museum with donations and memberships. They are small, but do great work.

The DC history Center is located on the second floor of the old Carnegie Library, recently renovated by Apple. The center is primarily a research library but has a smallish exhibition space and gift shop that’s the perfect size to take in when shopping at the new Apple Store. The building has been perfectly restored and is beautiful it’s whiteness. Walk up the marble staircase to the exhibit gallery which has a lovely show on huge panoramic photos of DC in mid-century. To the left of the exhibit entry is a really great small gift shop that highlights DC area makers and has interesting, unique items.

The building is really beautiful to see and the upstairs exhibit gallery is just the right size. This is a great, easy stop if you’re nearby.

Seems like it was put together by some middle schoolor‘s. Not a whole lot to see or learn. Information presented is obviously biased and selective in a narrow way. Random displays. No theme or continuity.

Just left a catered party at the Carnegie Library at 801 K street. Great interior space and beautiful environment for any formal occasion. Magnificent restoration of a classic building.

Cool temporary exhibits-nice architecture

They have a variety of changing temporary exhibitions in a wonderful old building. Amazing DC research library with small displays in there too.

Great gift shop!
Wonderful gift shop! All things White House, run by the White House Historical Association. Everything is made in the U.S.A., not in China (thank you, Bernie Sanders!). Love their annual official Christmas tree ornament series!!

The library is located just across the Convention Center and close to Chinatown.
Beautiful old style architecture and very well preserved. There is a nice garden around the library with an interesting sculpture.
It houses the Historical Society of Washington DC research library and exhibits.
