You may have to visit this at least to get the key for the adjoining church BUT go in and view the exhibits (it won't take too long). Downstairs is a collection of stuffed Cypriot animals plus a peculiar! Quite well done and informative - especially if you have kids with you. Upstairs are the archaeological exhibits. Items from excavations in the general area are exhibited. The star is the gold from Soli especially the diadem. Look at this item and turn around to look at the photos of its finding. The face of the excavator says it all. This is a small museum but if you are visiting / or have visited the sites further West (Soli/Vouni) it is worthwhile.

A voir

The ground floor contains a selection of stuffed birds and animals native to the area. Upstairs are artefacts and jewellery unearthed at the nearby historic site of Soli. These include beautiful and eell-preserved Grecian urns, amphora, cups, bowls and other earthenware items. Thete is a wonderful statue of Artemis discovered under the sea near Soli. But the piece de resistance is the magnificent collection of gold jewellery, including hair ornaments, bracelets, rings, necklaces and a fabulous gold diadem, comprised of delicate leaves and berries twined together, as perfect as the day they were created

The Guzelyurt museum is situated adjacent to the Church of St. Mamas.
We were fortunate enough to park outside some nearby shops but there is also a car park a short distance away.
This museum was amazing, so clean and fresh looking as you step inside with well exhibited items. The Natural History section is on the ground floor and contains a most interesting collection of specimens, ranging from stuffed birds, sea specimens, samples of the rocks from Cyprus, snakes and lizards preserved in formaldehyde, and some strange aberrations of nature, that includes a two headed lamb.
Moving to the upper floor you will find the archaeological museum. This has a good layout of rooms with artefacts. Exhibits date from the Stone Age and another room shows artefacts found at the Bronze Age site of Toumba tou Skoura. Gold jewellery can be found in Room V. Be sure you see the “Golden Treasure of Soli”, a great hoard of bracelets, rings, necklaces, plus a gold wreath found in 2005 by the water department in a drain behind the theatre at Soli. The display also contains photographs of the serendipitous discovery.
We spent quite a while in here as it was so interesting and fascinating. I am sure there must be more places on the island just waiting to be discovered to reveal their treasures!

This is a small museum in a part of Cyprus known for its natural beauty. The Natural History section of the museum has stuffed specimens of the great variety of birds found on the island.
A small archeological collection is on the second level.

On our trip to Cyprus our itinerary took us to St. Mamas Monastery and the Guzelyurt Museum whis is next door to the monastery. It's a small, compact museum with a natural history section as well as an archeology section dating back to the bronze age. It's worth a look but don't expect a long visit.
