It was really an amazing day, we always heard about Reggio Emilia and Malaguzzi, for us in Education it is a reference, and being in this place is a great honor and privilege, I didn’t want to go out anymore and I got excited. It was worth it. Fantastic.

I have only cried twice this summer: the first time, was when I saw Van Gogh's paintings at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. The second time was today, when I saw the artwork of Reggio Emilia's children at the Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi.
EVERYONE should visit this place, not just elementary teachers. To see how the educators in Reggio Emilia are able to step back and let children develop their own ideas and thoughts, and then turn those ideas into artwork is amazing. The educators become recorders of the children's activities and conversations, but they don't try to control them.
The pre-schools in Reggio Emilia were set up, after World War II, so that the center of each school was an atelier (artist studio) in the center with classrooms around it, so that the atelier was the center and heart of the school. Students from each classroom can spend hours each day in the atelier, working on projects, or even a whole day.
Do yourself a favor. Go spend 2-3 hours at the Centro to see what children can do when given the freedom to do it. Bonus: the snack bar must be run as a non-profit. Coffee was $1.20, croissant was the same price. About half of what you would pay anywhere else.

Visited here as part of the international study week. Loads of Atillier stuff to see and take pictures of. Good gift shop and the coffee and food is reasonably priced.

Sembra si essere a Berlino o Madrid.. centro Interculturale… lingue svariate che si sommano .. luogo di interqzione e integrazione.. e ciliegina sulla torta il Bookshop.. la libraia ha arricchito le gia meravigliose proposte letterarie per far sognare piccini e grandi con articoli da atelier come anche il kamishibai… per sognare un altro po…le domeniche al centro internazionale con narrazioni ecc

Quando posso mi fermo volentieri, anche solo per un caffè. Si ha la sensazione di essere in una capitale europea, con gente attorno che parla in tutte le lingue. Buona la caffetteria ed ottimo il ristorante al primo piano che offre proposte fresche, sfiziose ad un ottimo prezzo, anche per pause di lavoro. Ambienti luminosi e puliti, dotati di tutti i comfort (es.presa per ricariche smart).

Oggi ho avuto l’opportunità di perdermi in un posto meraviglioso: la libreria del Centro Internazionale per l’infanzia Loris Malaguzzi, un posto dove i libri sono meravigliosi oggetti per sognare, perdersi, fantasticare, apprendere! Tra l’altro, oltre ai libri, il book shop è fornito di ottimi prodotti da atelier... non si può uscire a ma i vuote!!! Giudicate voi!

I attended the International Study Group at this centre. It was wonderful. The place is really designed for big group study visit. The main hall is modern & well equipped. The holding space is large, the cafe has nice drinks & snacks. The bookshop sells good books that may be hard to be found elsewhere. The highlight for me is the atelier spaces which are amazing & very inspiring. Very recommended to everyone that would like to learn more about Reggio Emilia approach to education.

Un bel posto da visitare se si vuole conoscere un po’ meglio Reggio Emilia e il progetto Reggio Children. Ottimo spazio aggregativo anche per la mensa e per i tavoli all’ingresso.

A must do for any educator, teacher, interest in the Reggio Emilia approach to learning or a person with an understanding in pedagogy. So much sharing of information and research through the exhibition hall, temporary exhibition areas and atelier exhibtin space. There is also an amazing Reggio Children's Bookshop with a wealth of resources. An incredibly busy place but very helpful staff and many places that can be seen, there is a Friday tour but books out months in advance. Great staff cafeteria upstairs that welcomes the public - fantastic local food & great prices. Just follow the leader & copy what the others do! Not to be missed - AMAZING! Information in both Italian and English
