Bushy Park in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is the second largest of London's Royal Parks, at 445 hectares (1,100 acres) in area, after Richmond Park, with about 175,000 trees. It has a range of semi-natural habitats, such as acid and neutral grassland, scrubland, woodland, and wood pastures. It also has fishing and model paddle ponds, horse rides, wildlife conservation areas, and herds of red deers and fallow deers

Bushy Park is a lovely place to take a casual stroll. Some lovely gardens and woodlands and plenty of wildlife plus a couple of places to stop for a coffee. Deer roam freely here. The car park near the gate at Hampton Court can get very busy and it is sometimes difficult to find a parking space

Entered via SHAEF gate as wanted to see the memorials to Eisenhower's office for D-Day planning and for the USAAF. Lovely park but unfortunately not enough time to much more than the history. No evidence of the deer that evening just their deposits!

We visited twice in the space of two days. The first time was a leisurely walk through to Hampton Court Palace. Lovely to see the wildlife including the deer. Today was for the Bushy Park parkrun which was great. Super friendly and well organised.

If you’re into running, apparently Bushy is a place of worship, as the first park run took place here some 20 years ago. It is indeed a lovely flat gravelly/grassy track where a PB could be a definite possibility. Coming from London on the train, the easiest way to access it seems to be the train from Waterloo to Teddington station followed by a 10 minute walk to the start. No signposting inside the park but the run starts by the toilet block. Some 1400 runners took place when we visited, the start of the race looked like a battle scene from Braveheart. Plenty of happy runners at the finishing line !

Visited on a bright Sunday afternoon and beautiful Bushy was alive with many folks and families of all sizes simply enjoying the super space and freedom, amazingly for free! Bird life abundant on lakes and land; red deer herd resting peacefully; ideal for dog watchers too! - with so many owners relishing the well-managed spaces.
Great refreshment facility with plenty of new wooden seating/tables available in fenced off area. Brilliant large children's play area with both easy and challenging activities on offer. o.k. toilet facilities.

We are so disappointed that all the beautiful rhododendrons have been removed and also dozens of trees so that some areas are now a wasteland. Lovely wooden fences have been replaced with ugly wire.On every visit for months now there have been heavy tractors and diggers churning the place up, making a lot of mess and noise. Wildlife has been disturbed. We live nearby and have walked here for years. Presumably there is some grand plan which will be achieved eventually but it was perfect before. What is the point and where is all the money coming from?

Visited with husband and dog early one Sunday morning. It was still fairly quiet and very peaceful. It was nice to see fish in the waters and plenty of thriving wildlife.
Definitely recommend especially as the parking is free.

Beautiful Royal Park loved not only by the locals but those visiting from farther afield too.
Extensive grounds to walk around with lakes, wildfowl and deer. Also a beautiful woodland garden.
Car parks can get very busy during school holidays and weekends.

How does one access the Bushy Park free parking area for Hampton Court visits

Currently parking is free - they are currently consulting on this. But do bear in mind that it can get really busy at the weekend and you can struggle to get parked. It's a short walk from Hampton Wick or Hampton court stations although trains aren't exactly popular right now.

Whereabouts is the play park in Bushy park as there are so many reviews and pictures but none of which show this? Also I cannot see it on Google maps.
