The grounds were lovely, and loads of space.
The dog policy is clear, and plenty of space for an off the lead runaround.

No parking available. Just tried to visit the gardens with my wife and my dog at 12.30 on a Thursday and there was no parking available.. So they have just lost two entrances and 2 lunches in there restaurant... Surely on a Thursday there should be some parking available...we will go back when the kids are back at school but no parking available...

We live very near to Sheffield park and absolutely love the place! it can get pretty busy but their are lots of areas to discover that are very peaceful.

The water lilies were exquisite. The walk around the gardens was so beautiful. The variety of trees and shrubs was amazing.
However, the cafe was an absolute nightmare. Poorly organised. The wait in the queue was at least 30 minutes. This is a poor reflection of the National Trust.

This park, run by National Trust, is at its best in spring when its impressive collection of rhododendron bushes are in full blossom. We came too late for that, but there is still lots to admire in late June. There are several lakes at different levels down the hill and some birdlife. The most notable bird was a colourful peacock wandering around.
The original mansion of this estate is no longer part of the National Trust property; it has been converted to apartments, but the house is visible from the gardens.

We went to Sheffield Park after a trip on the Bluebell Railway as we are National Trust members.Ample car . It was well worth a visit It was tranquil and sceni with a nice walk around the lake where there was a variety species of ducks and geese. Plenty of interesting plants and trees and it was well worth the effort to come here

Have been National Trust Members for a while. Arrived today for an unplanned visit as staying in the area - you need to book a mobility scooter fair enough did manage to get one for an hour which was great but not long enough to see the park - chose to borrow one of their wheelchairs which was abysmal not like the all terrain available at Nymans Gardens .
Disabled toilets up a small incline pathways were uneven and on more than one occasion the wheelchair jarred
I don’t think Sheffield park you are accessible as you think just having things available doesn’t make it so try pushing your staff around then you will know
The lakes were lovely but quite disappointed really in the garden for all seasons - hmmm didn’t really see that!
As usual the cafe was very expensive and boring choice, and the soup was lukewarm !!!
Thought we would sit and have an ice cream at the end of a journey kiosk closed at 3.30 - what’s that about!

Beautiful park and plenty to see. Be sure to bring your own food and drinks, as this is easier to do as the locations are often very busy. Not very suitable for people with mobility problems, as there is a lot of walking involved. Good to do with children, a lot of attention is paid to that.

Having recently joined The National Trust, myself and my 15 year old decided to visit Sheffield Park today and we were not disappointed,such a beautiful place,lovely walks and beautiful surroundings.Had jacket potato in the café,was tasty and sensibly priced.

To be fair, we only stopped for a morning coffee. This is taken in the Coach House, and a more dreary place to sit would be very difficult to find. It looked liked a schoolroom in the 1950s. Surely the National Trust can do better for it's members?

I’m afraid I don’t go there regularly, but I’d say about now would be a good time. If you go, remember to take some food for the ducks and other waders you may see.😃

why cant we bring a dog in till pm ,thats half a day gone,and its such a big place

Until a few years ago, dogs were not allowed in the garden at all, and there are many of our visitors who do not want to see dogs in the garden. We decided to introduce the half-day option to try and provide a compromise between those who want to bring their dogs and those who prefer a dog-free environment. We do welcome dogs on the parkland and off-lead in East Park as well as in the garden room of the tearoom at all times of the day. We are always reviewing our arrangements, and the National Trust as a whole are looking at how we welcome dogs to our places to try and provide a more uniform policy that will be easier to understand for our visitors. We appreciate your feedback, and this will all go towards helping us form future policies. Jo Grocott, Visitor Experience Manager.

I’m thinking of traveling to Sheffield park on good Friday by public transport from Brighton
But a little confused as I can get to Lewes for £5.50 return
But to go to uckfield it’s £30
Can someone tell me the easiest & cheapest option please

Hello there. It's not an easy place to get to on public transport and could be more hassle than it's worth. Check the National Trust/Sheffield Park Gardens own website for their directions.
You can go from Lewes to Uckfield on the train but it's 8 miles to Sheffield Park from there. A fun route would be to take the train to East Grinstead and then the steam train on the Bluebell Railway which stops at Sheffield Park - about 15 mins walk to the gardens. The trains are not very frequent though. Check the Bluebell Railway website.

It was in relation to someone who praised the ‘East Park’ at Sheffield Park, mentioned Canadian traces and eulogised about the helpful teenage restaurant staff - clearly deluded as Wakehurst housed a Canadian contingent in WWII.
Sheffield Park restaurant boasts teenagers with appalling customer skills and no hot food before noon.

The whole of the South Park. I would suggest a baby carrier if you have though as the paths are a bit uneven
