As a tourist visiting Watford, I was delighted to stumble upon Cassiobury Park. Its vast green spaces, located so close to the city center, were truly breathtaking. The park offers a range of activities to keep visitors entertained. I particularly enjoyed the Colorscape event, where each room was filled with a different color and accompanied by music, creating an immersive experience. You have to remove your shoes and wear a cloak that changes color according to the room you're in. The model railway was another highlight, providing a delightful journey that was well worth the price. There are also outdoor gym facilities for those aged 13 and above, a playground for children under 14, and a paddling pool for those under 12. The two cafes within the park were a great place to relax and enjoy some refreshments. With easy access to parking and Watford Metropolitan Line station, as well as being close to Watford town center, Cassiobury Park is a must-visit for anyone in the area.I bought a railcard on trainpal and got a 20% discount when I entered the RC777E code! Hope to help those who come to the UK to play~

I came across the park while walking from the underground station to the town centre and then onto the football ground as an away football fan (Watford v Sunderland).
It's amazing that such a huge area of greenery is so close to the town centre.

Went to Cassiobury park to attend the colour scape event. It is such a lovely park to visit,it is immaculate and has lots to do.The colour scape event was good, basically it is just loads of rooms of a different colour displayed in each one.It has music as well.It immerses you into a world full of colours. You need to take your shoes off and wear a cape before entering in.The cape changes colour based on what room you are in.As colour scape is in inflatable domes it is dependent on the wind. The model railway is lovely too,you get a nice ride and it and a good value. If you love your model railways you can get a ticket that you can ride it 10 times. They have a lovely outdoor gym,you have to be either over 13 or over 140 centimetres to use it.Also they have a park(under 14s only) and a splashpool(under 12s only). The park is pretty as well. They also have two cafes. There are car parks and Watford Metropolitan line station and Watford town centre is within easy reach.Would highly recommend!

very nice park, running here in the morning is excellent! Lawns and trees and river.

Cassiobury park is a large town park in Watford. It has all the things you would expect from a traditional town park - large lawns, bandstand, a cafe, avenues of trees. The grounds of the former Victorian country house have many fine and unusual trees. The park had lottery funding in 2016, and as a result many feature were refurbished. There are interpretation boards around the park which explore the interesting history.
Late March is a pleasant time to visit with cherry blossom, flowering shrubs and daffodils - the daffs are mainly close to the entrance to the town centre. More unusual is the Grand Union canal - the main feature on the western edge of the park. This western part of the park also has a nature reserve. With a little patience you can see common species of waterbirds - herons, moorhens, mallard, coots, as well as the more exotic mandarin and wood duck. With luck and more patience you can also see nuthatches, blackcaps, chiff chaff and kingfisher.
Most of the paths are well surfaced and easy to follow, with a good surface even after rain. However, some parts of the nature reserve can become muddy or even flood. To explore this, walking boots are recommended after rain. If you live locally, there is a friendly friends group, who lead guided nature walks.
The main entrance is a few minutes walk from the town centre. If you are coming from outside Watford, its also a few minutes from Watford Met. There are toilets at Cha cafe for customers and at the Hub. The Hub also has a cafe. For younger visitors, there are two play areas and a narrow gauge railway. It can all get a bit over-loved on a sunny Sunday afternoon, with pressure on the cafes and other facilities. So if you are looking for peace and quiet, try and find another time. If you are coming from further away and are looking for a whole day - it can be combined with a visit to Whipendell Woods or a walk along the Canal - either towards Croxley and Rickmansworth or north towards Kings Langley.

Awful parking but a magical little train ride (charming and wooded and just lovely) and a great play park - albeit the equipment a bit close together. Not to mention the splash park which is great but gets a bit hairy with the big kids. The river provided much interest for the 4 and 2 year olds and I almost wished we’d skipped the water park in its favour. Obviously great supervision and caution and hygiene should be observed around water - rivers/streams included!

I have been to Cassiobury Park a few times, the most recent visit was last weekend. It’s a beautiful oasis in Watford, the largest park in the town centre. It’s said to be double the size of Hyde Park in London. Very well maintained and always busy with people (but large enough to find your own space). Full of families with kids, couples, people walking dogs, walking, jogging or just enjoying a quite day out sitting on the grass or bench. The shared paths are wide enough to fit both cyclist and pedestrians, particularly in the first half of the park as you come from the town centre. The canal area is also beautiful and peaceful. For nature photography lovers, you can take great photos of the trees reflecting in the water, particularly on a sunny day. There is also a small waterfall which is nice. Convenient location close to Watford Metropolitan Underground Station for those getting to the park by underground. There are free toilets near the cafe and playground. If you like some greenery and are in the area, it’s worth visiting.

Wonderful park for families with kids. There is a great playground, splashpad, miniature train, and excellent food options. We got good from DAISYS IN THE PARK. Great afternoon visit!

Amazing natural park, very well maintained with plenty of things to do for kids and families. Two hours of free parking available which is very convenient for walk or running in the park. There is a newly refurbished cafe and fountain play area for kids. Park have multiple walking tracks which leads to Rickmansworth or Hemel Hampstead, also the walk around the canal is amazing. Park is huge of 160 acres, it’s a must visit place if you are around Watford area, highly recommended.

What is the name of the pub? Not the one above the artificial ponds the other one that has a small playground. I need to contact them for a reservation. Thank you

Hi As others have said there are no pubs in the park. However if you want a pub there is one in Langely way. Leave the park at the bottom entrance/exit and walk up the hill on Langely way and you'll find on the roundabout. About a 5 min walk. They do serve food and have a garden.

There is parking nearby but check as there are parking restrictions Monday to Saturday. There is parking in the park but is limited. Get there early is my advice.
