The best decision was not to drive my meself and hire a car. We booked one from musoorie and was nice to see an office with fixed prices. The road to Landour is narrow, steep and busy depending upon the season you choose to travel. October was not v busy but Landour Bazar was packed due to Diwali hawkers. My experience on popular hill destination has been of disdain given the littering on the slopes mostly plastic and otherwise. The hill community needs to raise more awareness and provide better waste management. But once you have crossed the lower market and reached char dokan, the roads are clean and dustbins installed regularly. The hype around Lal tibba was forgetful. It is just a hype created for tourism. The Landour bakehouse had a nice feel. Walking from the bakehouse to ROCKBY Manor was really nice...slacking up the crisp mountain air. The highlight of the trip was the lunch at the lovely ROCKBY Manor restraunt. Stopped at char dokan on way back. Anil's tea shop is the more popular and we had to wait for 10 min to get a table. I just looked around and wondered what will it take to give tourism in India a serious effort. Much can be done to prove the look and feel of the surrounding. The coffee at Anil was worth the wait. I enjoying my day trip. Thankfully October and pre diwali meant little rush.

This weekend I had my 30th in the main space at the Landor. I cannot day enough about how good the place was. The venue is perfect for a party/reception up to 100. Being situated above a busy pub with huge beer garden. All AV and lighting is included with private bar and toilets when you take the space.
We were incredibly taken care of by Ellie and Jake on the night. Nothing was too much trouble dealing with impromptu requests and cocktails for guests. Emmanuelle who dealt with me at the organising stage was great and provided discount on pre ordered alcohol. I had food arranged for the evening and it was far superior to typical pub food.
Would recommend this place to anyone organising a party. Only drawback was they had to close.

Waited 40 minutes for food - our entire group - one of which got his meal within 5 minutes - were finished. They offered my friend (who doesn't drink) a free drink and she asked for maybe some nuts instead. I've worked in hospitality and know that they should've offered a refund as they had clearly forgot to put the order through. We are regular customers and they clearly didn't value this. They issued us an ultimatum - you either want the food or you want a refund - we wanted the food 40 minutes ago when we ordered however my friend still has to eat lunch so it's lose /lose. And this happens pretty much everytime we lunch here. Great for after work drinks however I'd avoid if you are lunching on a time limit.
