Too much building work going on to see anything! Parts of the market closed off to not accessible. Too much Harry Potter hype and nothing more!

Enchanting architecture preserved and remodeled with restaurants and bars surrounded by modern finaceira area buildings, like the Gherkin. A beautiful contrast. Close to St Paul's Cathedral, with its famous staircase where he married Diana.

Well worth a visit, quiet time on a Saturday, weather was cold so not too many people about. Closest tube we got off was Monument

Well worth a stop if you find yourself in ‘The City’. I visited during the late afternoon when the darkness provided a beautiful contrast to the lighting in the Hall. Lots of places to eat and many pubs that were all quite busy, both inside and out, during my late afternoon visit. I had a pint at the Lamb Tavern to soak up the atmosphere.

Nice little market interesting especially by its typical architecture .. no great choice except a few cafes, shops and a pastry shop.

London is home to multiple, incredible markets, attracting shoppers from all across the globe and Leadenhall Market is London’s most beautiful market – tucked away in the heart of The City. These days, it’s a contemporary shopping precinct with trendy bars and cute cafes and its more then 700+ years old.
The site has a long history – dating all the way back to Roman times when it started as a bazaar on the very same spot you find it today. the entrance sign declares that the market was established in 1321.
It was initially a meat, game, and poultry market. Later, leather was sold here as well as wool, butter, eggs, and cutlery as it slowly became one of the most important markets in medieval and early modern London.
Architecturally, it’s interesting and worth seeing. It’s not a tourist trap at all. A lot of people who work in the area go there.
Leadenhall's main draw is the ornate rooftop, as well as the cobbled floors, which were designed in 1881 and are nearly all original, although there was some redecoration done in the 1990s.
and hey HP fans: don't miss the Harry Potter filming locations when you’re visiting the market. Leadenhall Market’s stunning Victorian decor has been featured in numerous films, including the legendary Harry Potter series.
Today, the market is a popular spot for City workers and tourists alike, who come to enjoy a tasty meal, a pint, or a shopping spree beneath its iconic Victorian glass roof.

Wednesday 2nd October we walked along the cobbled streets of this amazing Victorian indoor Market.
The history of the Market goes back to Roman times when there was a forum here. There has been a market here since the fourteenth century. A rebuilt during Victorian times, in the 1880s created the current structure.
We entered the Market, from Gracechurch Street, through the tall entrance topped with a rather grand structure. It has been constructed using Porland stone and red bricks with five large paneled windows. On top of them are three round windows all crowned by something that resembles a church belfry, an impressive entrance.
Once inside the Market one of the most striking features was the incredible roof structure with it's wooden arched beams, glass roof and ornate supporting columns. A vast number of friezes add to its grandeur. From there large lantern lights hang providing additional light.
Today the premises with their Victorian style fronts with ornate topped columns, over both floors, are home to a variety of businesses. These include high end boutiques, quality restaurants, wine bars, cafes and other outlets like a cheese shop, card shops, book and flower shops and so much more. Top end outlets stand side by side with some that would be more associated with the High Street.
As we passed through the Market was busy with people like us, just browsing, others were shopping, or sitting outside a restaurant eating and drinking all adding to the atmosphere.
The Market is also home to the Lamb Tavern, which dates back to 1780. It is now located in the centre of the Market. The Pub was incorporated into the market structure during the rebuilt in the 1880s.
The Market underwent a major refurbishment in 1990/91 which greatly improved it's appearance and enhanced the character and architecture.
Due to it’s unique structure and appearance it has featured in a number of films, including Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was portrayed as the area of Lodon near the Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley.
We have subsequently learnt that a far more unusual use was that it formed part of the course for the marathon of the London 2012 Olympics. Runners ran across the cobbles from Whittington Avenue to Lime Street, what an amazing venue.
We did not spend lots of time here due to another engagement, just as well think we would still be there wandering looking at every feature, going round and round to see if we missed anything.

Historic & beautiful. Leadenhall was worth a quick pit stop while exploring London. The building is seriously breath taking. Don’t forget to look up at the ceiling- it is so colorful. There is a bunch of cafes & shops in this market. We really just came to admire the beauty & get photos it. Felt super magical 💫🌟✨

Leadenhall Market is a fantastic example of Victorian architecture. It is like being in a Dickensian novel.
There are bespoke shops, bars and restaurants throughout, and the building is colourfully and richly decorated.
I was pleased to see more enforcement of no smoking policies there, as this building is enclosed, so it is illegal to smoke anywhere inside the building, which includes vaping and e cigarettes. Whilst this practice is common in Europe and some Middle Eastern countries, it isn't in the UK, and you could face a fine of £100, so be aware. If you want to smoke go outside.

Only thing good about the event were the musicians.
A poorly organised, NON-FAMILY FRIENDLY event, with hardly any place to move OR pause.
SECURITY GUARDS WERE THE RUDEST PEOPLE EVER & it was so unpleasant being shoved around.
Suggestion - train security to be more polite and understanding (especially security guards outside posh shops - they are the worst!) - it was like you weren't 'allowed' to stop to see where you were with your child, it's just so disgusting visiting this place.
I highly recommend that YOU DO NOT ATTEND THIS EVENT unless you enjoy being abruptly spoken to around every corner or shoved around - it's just not worth it! There are better Christmas lights experiences around London.

There were many locations across London that appeared in the Harry Potter films , if your looking for the 'Secret Alley' that appeared in Leadenhall Market it's actually in Leicester square . It's called Cecil Square

A recommendation as to a somewhere to meet a friend for coffee in Leadenhall market please (visiting next Thursday) before we go on to Fen Court roof garden and Sky Garden). thanks!

Sorry I can't recommend a particular coffee shop but there are so many that when you arrive you'll get a feeling with regards to which are most popular. Good luck.

We’re going to be in the district of London in late June and plan a day walking the area. We’re thinking Leadenhall Market, Sky Garden, the Pub called Hung Drawn&Quartered and All Hallows by the Tower. We’re both older and we’re wondering if these venues are close enough for a leisurely morning. We’ll pre-book at the Sky Garden of course.

The tour from Leadenhall ends a minute or so away from the sky gardens. The Leadenhall tour us not too much walking either. At certain places there are public benches, but it is mostly standing. There may be a few steps though (not wanting to give too much way). The pub should be a short walk, but after sitting & relaxing in the sky garden- it should not be a problem. The sky garden is slopped, there are wide stairs, and also ramps. Hope this helps.

the glass house is an opticians shop which was used as the entrance to the leaky cauldron. the market itself was used as the exterior for diagon alley.

Leadenhall Market is an arcade of shops and restaurants and it never closes so you can certainly visit it and admire the architecture on a Saturday BUT as the shops within the market rely on local city workers most of whom do not work at weekends the individual businesses inside the market may not be open. Personally I think the City of London is worth visiting on a Saturday as there are so many lovely buildings to look at it is easier when it is not so busy. Also these days there are lots of cafes open at weekends (around Liverpool Street station for instance) so you will not find it hard to get food or drink here. Also there are loads of other things to see nearby such as St Paul's Cathedral, Museum of London, The Monument,Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe, Borough Market, River Thames..........
