5* adults only. Amazing staff and the food in the restaurant was great too. Very clean and tidy. Lovely big pitched. Toilets and showers were immaculate. Cannot fault the place. Be back soon.

Looking back at the review from someone in September I can defend Caistor to the enth degree. We have been holidaying at Caistor for near on 5 years staying multiple times per year and I can say that I don't know of any other location that looks after the ponds and fish more than them. Weed has never been an issue as they regularly clear out or add water clarifier to get rid of any and keep the water clear. As for the oxygen levels they have multiple pumps in each pond to ensure oxygenation so thats not an issue either and being a koi enthusiast I know what levels need to be maintained for healthy fish. Nearly every time I've stayed I have caught over 100lb of fish sometimes over a week that's doubled. All I can say is I can't praise the staff enough as they now feel like family and there has never been an issue regarding the lakes state or fish health. If you are an avid angler this is the place to go and foundry and herons are ideal for beginners as you rarely are left fishless no matter the time of year. I will continue to stay here and already have 3 holidays booked this year and its all down to the staff.

Stayed at the Lakes for Christmas this year, the lodge was great, clean and very well maintained overlooking the lake. The team were very helpful but we needed little looking after. Not much to do in Caistor in the winter but we visited the local pub a couple of times which was is good walking distance. Lincoln, Cleethorpes and Market Rasen all in good driving distance. Great bar and restaurant on site, the Ugly Duck. Will absolutely be returning!

Stopped in today for a spot of lunch at the end of a dog walk on the Viking way.
Lovely setting. Dog friendly indoor and outdoor seating.
We ordered a club sandwich and coffee. The young man who prepared our meal was a trainee, we were told when our food came. Well done young man the food was well presented and very tasty also a good sized portion. Keep up the good work.

We booked a lodge on Arthur’s Pool to enjoy a weeks fishing . The lodge was very nice but could do with extra crockery and cutlery when cooking for 4 and a dishwasher would have been handy as well . They also need to replace the pillows and the wi fi was very hit and miss . Sadly the fishing was impossible. The lake is covered in blanket weed which inhibits plant growth and affects fish health by reducing oxygen levels in the water.
The first day we spent trying to clear an area to fish in but to no avail. Reception told us we could fish on the other lakes but being 81 years of age to have to pack up and move all our equipment daily was not an option . We booked this holiday and lodge as it was directly accessible for fishing .
If you just want to relax Caistor Lakes is fine but is not suitable for fishing until they address the weed problem. Sadly we will not be returning.

Short review…
Fantastic lodge, staff & food - have seen some moan about the fishing on Arthurs Pool but guess they expect to catch without actually having to try?! 🙄 fish with zigs / solids and expect weed! Think Heron is the easier lake if not wanting too much of a challenge 👍
Long review!
Firstly, for the non-angler, this bit’s for you!
If you’re like us, your partner has probably found Caistor Lakes when looking for somewhere they can fish but you can enjoy a break too ? Well I hope this is helpful!
At the end of May we went for our second visit and stayed on Arthurs Pool. The lodges are fantastic! Spacious & well equipped and very clean & tidy. Aircon, TV, WiFi, full size fridge freezer, indoor & outdoor seating / dining area and of course, the hot tub!
The staff are all second to none too! Very friendly & helpful and make your stay a really enjoyable one.
The restaurant looks lovely (although we had food from there delivered to the lodge so I didn’t need to bring the rods in 🙄) Burgers, lasagne, stroganoff, chicken.. all were great tbh
The days and/or evenings can be spent in the hot tub with a glass or two of what you fancy or sat round the table on the decking overlooking the picturesque lakeside. There’s a big tv in the lounge area should you be there when you find it too cold to be outdoors!
For the angler
Now I’ve hopefully managed to persuade your partner going somewhere you can fish will be enjoyable for them too, let’s get down to the important bit!
Firstly, you are fishing from composite decking so you WILL need a pod (don’t go screwing stage stands in eh!). Fishing from decking can seem odd at first. Your rod tips sit well above the water and you will need to lay down to get the fish out once netted but I’ve had to do this on some lakes anyway tbh so no big deal.
Back leads could be an option in windy conditions but I turned sensitivity down and lines tight as I don’t like backleads in weed
I also found it weird not having the bivvy to organise everything in and you may find sitting on a sofa watching your rods almost surreal at first but don’t worry, just remember you’re there on a break as well as for the fishing so enjoy it!
You can leave the rods in overnight and again, being in a real bed may feel odd but you’re not too far from the rods in reality. You will obviously need a receiver for the alarms though (and maybe turn the alarms themselves to silent as a courtesy to non fishing visitors too?)
Don’t go expecting to bag up! The fishing itself was tough and you will probably need to work at it. It’s only a small lake but has plenty of weed and hiding spots for the carp to hide and loads of naturals to feed on plus, they had just finished spawning so knew it would need some effort to get any in.
From Shearwater, Depth was about 7 / 8 foot with very little shallow area in the margins.
Despite quite chilly & overcast conditions, It was actually zigs (a method I’d rarely used before) that did the business for me (fixed as it was too weedy for adjustable and only 8’ anyway). After losing 3 to hook pulls in the weed I changed from size 10 with foam to size 6 with a pop up and did manage to get a small double common out in the end. It’s probably the smallest in there tbh but was over the moon with it! Lovely condition & dark colouring.
Next time I will make sure I don’t forget my PVA stuff in a bucket in the garden 😫 as think that would be a good tactic too but will definitely start on zigs.
I know Caistor Lakes are hoping to be able to stock some basics eg end tackle, PVA. Etc soon but, until they do, make sure you have all your gear in the car when you leave!!
While there I did go for a little wander and If you prefer your fishing a bit easier I’d recommend Heron as the lodges are very similar but the lake has a higher number of fish and is a mixed fish lake. Arthurs is carp only and the one I’d recommend if you’re up for a bit of a challenge.

What a lodge ! Absolutely first class , spotlessly clean and tidy , heating and air conditioning which was a godsend in this heatwave. Excellently fitted out and the lodge had its very own fishing peg

Ledge is nice. Paid to fish for 7 day's but could only fish for 2 half days as the lake was really weedy.the people next to me went home early and the other 2 fishing Lodges complained.they have taken most of the big fish out.
