Excellent activity of the FAI that was the first to allow access to the castle after the semi-destruction due to the earthquake of Emilia Romagna in 2012.
Interest and incredible influx.
Only a part of the castle can be visited, as reconstruction work is not yet completed. Stairs, halls frescoes extremely interesting recovered with skill.
The Anna tower, completely destroyed, was rebuilt in corten iron, certainly a divisive work that, however, leaves a memory of the wound suffered by the castle and at the same time meets the anti-seismic standards imposed by the specification (the tower at the end of the fourteenth century had been "leaned" on the roof of the Galeazza tower and was without structural connection with the tower). It may seem an inadequate intervention, but so does Arch. Aldo Scarpa abounded with cement and iron in the reconstruction of Castevecchio in Verona...
Beautiful stable and barn above, also subject to earthquake intervention with steel elements.
Very beautiful the tower that gives access to the wood not yet open to visitors.
We wait for the completion of these works to see the cultural association that will follow and develop the history of the Castle in action!

Fall opening do, no one expected an influx of visitors like this... I would have had to wait 2 hours in a row plus an hour of visit if I had not had the card do. The building is really large , the damage has been enormous , I actually saw a construction site today , architectural stabilization works are underway , the interior decorations have not yet been touched, what has been saved can be admired , I hope that the fact that it is completely bare depends on the work and that the property makes it at least partly a museum . You see, apart from the earthquake, the neglect of the gardens and the little interest in a place not lived by the owners, Very questionable aesthetically the choice to rebuild the tower (the only truly ancient element that was destroyed) in CORTEN STEEL, a punch to the stomach was better! They told me that the Fine Arts imposed it, I don't think, they pushed it through because it probably cost half the cost of a brick restoration, it was faster to complete and it will be more stable, Brandi's theory of restoration we've all studied and it doesn't say that you have to twist what's been lost, just as long as the lost part is recognizable, here I seem to see the bad taste of Vegas, obscene! Try doing something like that at Notre Dame! The Owner however agreed and the Guide was enthusiastic about the solution ... after this I turned my heels and left disgusted
