We're from Osoam Cardamom Community centre. Here, we has had some good experiences around 10 yrs in the trekking and hiking in the jungle of the Cardamom mountains. We think, you should come and join us to get experience too

We spend 2 days in Mister Lime place and it was a great time. His story is increidible and his investment for his community as well! We had a great time and unique discovery in jungle atomophere! we recomand it!!He can help to discover this beautiful region and understand the context !

About Osoam Comunity: I was in Mr.Lims place 4 night with my friends. I have mixed feelings about this place. Lim seems nice but if you do not want to take guided tour with him atmosphere changes a bit. We had a feeling that we are not welcome anymore. Food is sometimes good sometimes shi..y , sometimes nothing :)
About rooms: Standard close to 0 but we didnt expect more. Just lack of electricy and light in the room at night was problematic
I also talked with Mr.Lim about devastatiin of a nature there and he didnt see a problem. Do not belive in Ecoourism there.
About a village and cardamon mountains: everything around is burned. People just burned the jungle because of investments. There are standing burned trees all over the horizon. And this smell of freshly burned jungle and smoke everywhere. Too sad...We had to take a motorbike and drive at least 40 min to find forest/jungle. :) (if.you know where to go) IT IS NOT IN A MIDDLE OF A JUNGLE! But it probably was 10 years ago.
If you are independent hiker motorbike is a must. If not you need a guide to get you to some nice places.
It is still worth to go the village to see degradation of nature as well as illegal logging. If you are smart or you take guided tour you can get to nice valley also. Big waterfall is great. If you are lucky you can meet friendly local people.

We had the chance to visit the Osoam Community Center in the Cardamon mountains.
It was not easy to get there (by Pickup from Pursat, but bad street ) but it's worth to discover this place. We walked trough the jungle to a waterfall with our guide Keo, and after we were having a great time swimming in the lake. Lim's hospitality, the tasty Khmer food and the amazing nature was wonderful. Lim's projects for the locals are impressive.

Cardamom Mountains Osoam Community Centre run by Lim and his beautiful family. A wonderful stay at this jungle surrounding guesthouse. Shower in the lake, sleep in a bungalow fall asleep to the sound of nature, wake up and have breaky cooked for you, lunch and dinner and all delicious food. Nick who runs motor bike tours (although we didn’t do one) great knowledgeable guy! Helped us out of the jungle to our next destination! Lim was lovely and accomodating, fresh avocados daily and a very chilled out stay. Would defiantly recommend staying here for a jungle feel 🙌🏽

Although Mr Lim is nice and friendly:
All went wrong since the beguining to the end.
No good material, we get lost in the jungle in the night. Walked 9h instead of 4h, the guide did not have light, gps, asking to use our maps.me apps (in the jungle)... And short of water and food.
No clear info and communication. Only saying arrive in few mins etc...
Then the jeep disappear with our stuffs etc. So we went 1hour to army camp waiting the jeep where soldiers were totally drunk and armed... Even the guides were drinking with them meanwhile.
We get very cold at night as only 2 hammock had blankets upon 5...
Mr lim insisted to continue to two next days but we stopped the morning after as we could not trust mr lim anymore and we were sick and tired.
We did not get any discount and paid 50$/day + 10$ taxi per person + 10$ taxi back. The taxi did not want to give our 10$ change so we had to become severe...
We never had clear info before we book and during the trip even if we asked sever times about material, food, equipment, clothes etc... And mr lim did not come at the meetin the day before... But we did not worry at start as we saw nice comments here...
We thought we had no chance but we met people who had bad experience as well.
It is a big shame as the guide and his assistant were nice, but definitely all went wrong and the experience and organisation were not at the level we expected from what we red in tripadvisor and what mr lim told us.

We stayed with mr Lim for three nights in the mountain village of O soam after we read about it on this website. We travelled via Pursat, where we took a taxi to o soam. Mr Lim was very welcoming, there was room for us in one of the bungalows. When it's full, it is possible to stay in another guesthouse in the village, so no need to book anything. The room was very basic, showers are buckets or a swim in the lake. The food was the best we had in Cambodia.
We did a 2 day jungle trekking and slept in the jungle for one night. This was an amazing experience, especially to hear all the sounds from the hammock. It was very cold at night though and we were not prepared, so take an extra sweater or sleeping bag if you have one. Our guides provided delicious meals.
I would really recommend to visis O soam for a few days, it is a very nice contrast to the crowds of Angkor and the heat of the lowlands. We left with a shared taxi to Koh Kong, which mr Lim arranged for us.

There are two different ways heading into the cardamom Mountain where the Osoam community center located.
- if you itineraries scheduled from Siem reap to Battambang-Pursat, then you need to hire off-road motorcycle or 4*4 off-road car to get arrived Osoam, That is like 137km long supper bumpy mud road, if you happen to come across with raining weather, it will become worse. It takes minimum 5 hours starting from the town outside of the mountain to Osoam community center. Strongly suggest not depart from the town later after 12 o'clock,if that's your first time to go. as the phone connection is not always good in the jungle.
- Another way is on the another side in Koh kong province, Koh kong is good place to go. If you go from that side, the road condition is much better. concrete paved road by a few Chinese Hydro-power company and the rest are flat mud road. it takes around 4 hrs to ride.
Both views of jungle from each side are very stunning. Please do keep in mind that, In osoam community center they are still using solar electricity and no tab water, Mr. Lim will provide fairly neat and tidy accommodation and good local meals. No any stores over there, if you wanna get more supplement for yourself better to be prepared in the city.
Things need to be prepared: flip-flops, high top shoes (recommended when trekking in the jungle),torch, cell phone sim card (meltone recommended,as it has more radio tower in that area),power bank, sun block lotion, fishing hat.etc. Binocular for viewing the endangered birds.
As the community is quite large , not many bushes or mosquitoes around, kid are fine to go,but not recommend for trekking in the jungle.

Set in the heart of the Cardamom Mountains, the Osoam Community
eco-tourism project will give you access to the most pristine and one of the last intact wild forests in mainland South East Asia.
Mr. Lim began this project to provider locals with an ethical and sustainable income in hopes of saving the area from illegal logging.
Reasonably priced accommodation, delicious home cooked meals, and a setting that is relaxing and picturesque. Your quick visit could easily be extended (as ours was).
If you are looking to relax, it's a great place to watch the days slip by.
If you want to help out, Mr. Lim offers accommodation to those willing to help with his many projects (building a school, gardening, etc.)
Some highlights from our time at Osoam Community include our trek through the remote jungle to see wild crocodiles and a visit to two beautiful waterfalls. We also took a bamboo raft on the lake.
Trying to reach, Osoam is located 5 hours from Koh Kong and nearly 7 from Pursat. But.. it's worth it if you have the time!
