My first experience on a west coast beach. A lot of beautiful rock formations and driftwood, played peek a boo with some seals and watched the sunset. It was perfect

Ruby Beach is absolutely gorgeous, from the driftwood and tall trees to the waves crashing against sea stacks. It's right off Highway 101 and a short walk down from the parking lot. There is plenty to explore, but you'll want to wear good shoes on the rocky shore. Definitely a must-visit spot when visiting Olympic National Park.

Even with the drizzly weather, the beach was absolutely beautiful. We loved walking down the beach and being amazed by the stacks and the huge pieces of driftwood. The driftwood did make it a little complicated to get to the water, but it was a nice brain challenge to figure out the puzzle without having to climb over the pieces.

Ruby Beach is incredible. The beach is a pebbles and rocks polished smooth by time. The rocks are rich colors and mottled greys. It's generally easy hking with a few driftwood logs to cross along the way. We hiked to the Hole in the Wall but didn't try to access it as the tide was too high. Still, a beautiful and unique site. It rained, typical of the Pacific NW. One just puts on their raingear and keeps going. We didn't see "ruby"--apparently it is best at sunset.

VERY BEAUTIFUL. The water is super chilly, but it is super beautiful. It is a must see when traveling to Washington.

Easy to get to and easy to walk on once you are there. I am not sure why everyone raves about Hole in the Wall at Rialto. There are several hole in the wall rock formations here and they are 50-200 feet from the end of the trail not a mile away.

On our excursion around Olympic National Park, we were suggested to stop at this beach and oh, are we glad we did. We had a perfect day, not a cloud in the sky and it was absolutely beautiful. We were there on a Wednesday and there was hardly anyone on the beach, and it's very large. There is a lot of driftwood around and rock formations that were so interesting. Words can't describe the beauty.

It’s a pretty beach even on a misty late summer day. In the summer this would be SO pretty! There is a viewing point that is wheelchair accessible, and/or you can do a little walk to get down to the beach. They also had restrooms.

Beautiful beach in Olympic National Park! Highly recommend! A lot of beautiful logs and Sea stacks! Kids absolutely loved it! Definitely go at low tide!

We stopped at Ruby Beach while exploring Olympic National Park. There is a large parking lot with a short trail down to the beach. This type of beach is so different than what we are used to on the east coast so we really enjoyed walking around and taking it all in. We probably stayed less than an hour but it was definitely a highlight of the day.

I will be near Ruby Beach during the week of Sept 13-17. Looking at the tide tables, I see that low tide during that time is not very much lower than high tide... Will I still be able to see critters in tide pools?

Only see them at low tide. It's a beautiful beach to walk even if you don't get to see the tide pool critters.

I’m planning a road trip to Portland Oregon and Washington around labors day.
If anyone has any advise or is familiar with this route please free to drop a comment.
We will be flying into PDX and flying out of Seattle Washington. We have about 7 days to road trip through the two states.
Here’s the itinerary and what I have planned so far -

wow, been there, done that. I would suggest you stop at nectar in pdx and get some cannabis. then stop at voodoo too for some nutrition. I've been living in pacific county, awesome for 2 years now. I was on vacation we did a million things and got so overwhelmed. in a few weeks we're heading to neah bsy, ruby beach and jig rain forrest. when you're in the gorge you should climb beacon rock and visit the overlook on the oregon side. happy travels

How much time should we allow in Olympic National Park to see Hurricane Ridge, Ruby Beach, and Cresent Lake? Thanks

We drove in to Olympic national park from the north and hit hurricane ridge first. I would say we stayed an hour or two then we drove to Lake Crescent to spend the night. We stayed in the cabins that night. Great restaurant and they have some great easy hiking trails. My husband and I are 65 and they were perfect. Beautiful trees and a waterfall. Probably took us a half of a day. We did spend the night again because we had he time. The next morning we drove to Kalaloch lodge. An absolutely beautiful national park lodge right on the Pacific Ocean. We spent a day visiting the different beaches and exploring the coast line. We didn’t swim (really no one was) so we explored the tide pools, driftwood, and packed a lunch. One beach had picnic tables. The beaches are so different from our Florida beaches. Kalaloch lodge had a great restaurant also. Don’t forget binoculars. We had whale sightings while we were there. Did not seem like that long of a hike to ruby beach from where we parked. The hardest thing is climbing over all all the drift wood to the beach. A really fun adventure. Hope you enjoy.

Take Interstate 5 south to Olympia then U.S. Route 101 to Olympic National Park and Ruby Beach. Depending on traffic it should take about 3 1/2 hours.

I think you could park overnight, I saw nothing that said you couldn’t. Plus there are restrooms in the parking lot I’m sure travelers stop all the time during the night.

There isn’t specified RV parking but there are spaces, if available, that would accommodate one. That said the parking area gets packed quickly.
