Tis is a fun place to go even if you don't buy anything. The building is unique-looking compared with much that's around it as it was built in the 1930. It has an old-fashioned elevator inside as well as other interesting antiques that are not for sale. Don't miss the rooftop because it gives a good view of the city, even at night, and has a Shinto shrine as well. Most of the objects in the main department store are a little overpriced at least though there are some interesting offerings. We ended up buying some pineapple cakes only to find the exact same kind for a lower price at a duty free shop at the airport. The top floor has a small gift shop that sells items related to the building - postcards (both historical and modern), and so on. It has a cafe, too, but it had closed before we got there (I think it closes at 7:00 PM). It's definitely worth a visit!

I followed him for ten minutes on foot from the hotel. Though it's being renovated, I rode side by side in the elevator from when it was first established, went to the fifth floor, looked at the shrine, the remains of the air raid, and waited for my wife to patrol the shop, which had neatly lined up souvenirs.

"Lin" (Hayyashi) is the first existing store company in South Taiwan, when the first to fourth floors were a sales venue, the fourth and fifth floors were restaurants, the elevator set up was the new invention of the Taiwan building at the time. Typical Taiwanese locals also commonly referred to as the "five-storey" linen store, a 6-storey building pattern, the structure design adopted the advanced steel-bone concrete technology, equipped with modern facilities. Other cultural architectural features include elevator facilities, 5th floor ocean restaurant, 6th floor view room space, lightning shutter and elegant lighting design. In June 1987, the Taiwan City Government announced the designation of this store as a "Original Forest Store" monument. Currently, the outsourcing operations of art-making stores focus on the theme of "Taiwan Life", including the theme of "good living room" on the floor, which is selected for Taiwan's exquisite goods; the "good design" on the second floor combines designer brand and tea concept store; the "good fashion" on the third floor with exquisite clothing, textiles and accessories, showcasing the subtle and slow fashion style of Taiwan to the sixth floor; the "good culture" on the fourth floor, which includes ocean-style restaurants, literature exhibitions for the exhibition space, and the "final public" on the top with Taiwan-themed bookstores and recordings, which combine the culture and culture as the minds of the travellers.

Tainan still has many buildings constructed under Japanese rule, the most notable of which is the Lin Department Store. You can imagine that it was a remarkable building at the time with five floors. Although the department store reopened in June 2014, you can enjoy shopping while taking a leisurely tour of the store, so please stop by.

It is a department store that has existed since the period of Japanese rule. It was apparently bombed during the war, but it was repaired and remains as an active building today. Inside is a souvenir shop and a restaurant on the top floor. There is also a small but historical elevator, which will entertain the inside as well as the outside. If you came to Tainan, I think it is a place to visit at least once.

I stopped by on a weekday afternoon. There were a lot of Japanese tourists in the building. There was a wide variety of souvenirs, and there was a line for the elevator. The elevator can only fit about four people, so depending on the time of day, you may have to wait quite a while.

One of iconic building at Tainan. You could feel vintage vibes at the whole building and finding some good quality stuff. Check their operating hour before you visit. Will be nice if you visit at the afternoon, you could have afternoon tea/coffee at the rooftop while the sun goes down

This is a landmark building dating to the Japanese Colonial period. When built it was one of two buildings in the island with then state of the art elevators. Its definitely a pretty building, especially at night and a building you'd want to visit if you like landmarks.

A wonderful building with a sense of history, elevator. The food was delicious, and the shopping was great. The view from the rooftop was also great. It was far from the hotel where I was staying, so I took a taxi, but when I gave them a note with the destination written on it, they immediately understood.

It seemed that most things in Taiwan are inexpensive in comparison with things in countries we're more familiar with - South Kore, Japan, and the US. However, while many of the items at this department store are unique and would make good gifts, prices are Japanese-level for most of them. Even if you don't buy much, the building, which was constructed almost 100 years ago, is interesting to walk around and has an aold-fashioned elevator that has been updated to modern safety standards. I wouldn't say it's a must-see if you are not interested in buying anything, but it's a good place to spend some time waiting for a nearby restaurant to open for dinner.
