Purity of the temple spoiled by authorities on the name of money everywhere
Ağu 2021
This temple is around 15km from Nandyala in kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. This is very old temple constructed during the reign of chalukyas. This temple had a big pond where water comes from unknown source. There are 2 more ponds called vishnu gundam and brahma gundam outside the main temple where devotees used to take bath. Now they are not allowed to jump into these 3 ponds due to covid.
Even though people come here to have Gods darshan, the autorities are spoiling the sanity of this place by making everything a business. We are not allowed to take our mobiles inside the temple and need to pay 10rs for each to keep it in their lockers. We need to pay 10rs for each cheppal pair.
Totally there are 9 nandis called navanandi named Mahanandi,Vinayaka Nandi,Garuda nandi,Vishnu Nandi,Shiva Nandi,Surya Nandi,Soma Nandi,Naga Nandi,Pramda Nandi. We hired an auto for 700 to cover 6 nandis.Vinayaka Nandi and Garuda Nandi are near to Maha Nandi temple

Business in the name of God
Eki 2020
After visiting this temple and going through the whole experience I wonder if it is a temple or a business. It starts with a steep entry fee of Rs. 80 for a car just 500 meters before the temple. Then to your surprise the ticket booth asks for Rs. 50 per person as an entry fee to the temple when the charge is Rs. 10. Everything is written in Telugu so the ones who don't know the language reads only number 10. On asking the question I got a rude reply that it is Rs. 50 if I want to enter before 8 am. All these for a normal queue and not VIP pass. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside the main temple, the fee is just Rs. 500 per device. You pay Rs. 50 at the storage to handover your phone/camera. Then you have to pay Rs. 10 for storage of each pair of footwear.

Wait...it does not stop here.

At every section of the temple the priest asks for "Dakshina" and that too the expectation is in multiple of 100s. If you don't give then they clearly show their ANGER. It looked like each priest has opened a shop inside the temple. All explanations about God and the temple are written in Telugu except the money matter. Wherever they need "Dakshina" it is written with BIG letters in Hindi, English and Telugu. It seems they are very good at marketing.

There are 9 Nandis at this temple and a flow of water continuously comes out from the mouth of one of the Nandi statues inside the pond. It is an unsolved mystery till today. This is what attracted us to the temple. But we could not find that Nandi anywhere. When we asked people inside the temple they were just not interested because we didn't pay any Dakshina. One devotee was kind enough to guide us to a place where we can see it.

The temple and authorities are NOT bothered to follow any social distancing protocols in Covid times. They are only interested in money.

Last but not the least is the "Prasadam" counter. Laddoo of 80 grams is Rs. 15 but nowhere it is mentioned that they give only one piece of Laddoo. Why do you need to write 80 grams, instead just write, one Laddoo will cost Rs. 15. When I went to buy that "80 grams" of Laddoos and handed over a bill of Rs. 20, the clerk arrogantly told me that he doesn't have change and I have to buy 160 grams. I agreed and then he gave me 2 Laddoos wrapped poorly as if I am a beggar and then came a rough tone "side kodi" even though nobody was in the queue behind me. I still wonder how come he knew I am from Karnataka.

I was literally annoyed with the attitude of temple staff. I usually never write negative reviews about any genuine religious places but this was a LOOT in the name of God so I could not resist.

Amazing temple with pure natural water pond
Eki 2019 • Aile
It's a must visit temple because you will no where else find such pure water. If you drop a coin in the water you can clearly see it from above. It's a mystery where the water comes from and how pure it is. All devotees who come here take a holy dip in this pushakarini. Don't forget to visit. Cell phones are not allowed inside the temple. They have a security deposit counter where you need to submit your phone before entering the temple...

Temple dedicated Lord Shiva's mount
Kas 2018 • Aile
Mahanandi Temple is one of the nine temples dedicated to Nandi, the mount of Lord Shiva. The Temple is spread out on a large area. there are two enclosures in the temple. Within the outer enclosure, there are two pond, on the two sides of the center passage, where devotees take a dip. However, the space withing the outer enclosure in not maintained properly.
There is an entry charge to enter the inner enclosure, where the main temple and other smaller temples are located. Mobiles and cameras are not allowed inside the inner enclosure.
There is water pond next to the temple. The water of the pond is absolutely still and very very clear, giving an impression of it being a glass. All the temples are heritage structures.
There are many devotees and comparatively fewer tourists visiting the temple.
