We arrived on Sat start of the half term hols after a long trip. It was snowing heavily and visibility was poor, however even in fine weather it would be impossible to find as all the paperwork we had stated it was Pierre Vacances Le Lac, yet the apartments are signed as Maeva and known locally as such, after half an hour of driving around asking locals it was pot luck I drove past it and remembered they were the same company. Reception was ok, nothing stellar but ok, we had booked lift passes in advance which is quite common yet for some reason got told to validate them next day at the lift pass office (unusual) on going in to validate them after a half hour wait on the busiest day of the year I wasn't too impressed to be told it wasn't necessary, the lady on the counter was very apologetic and apologised on behalf of the apartments, the staff in Tignes itself are excellent it's just this apartment they seem a bit clueless. We were on the first floor, there is a pair of lifts which is great. The corridor smelt of smoke when we got there but this went as the holiday went on, I suspect someone had smoked the week before we got there. The room was a mixed bag, it's big enough for 2 and is comfortable, but would probably be a bit small for 4. Pull out double sofa bed and 2 single bunks. Bed was insanely comfy. Bring your own bedding though, sheets and blankets are provided, we used the sheet but brought our own duvet, I wish we had brought pillows as the 2 supplied were poor. The bedding was all newish and very clean though. Room cleanliness wasn't great, the kitchen was ok overall it was "ok". The bathroom was poor with black mould everywhere and lots of steam damage, mainly because the ventilation fan didn't work properly and just blew smelly dust everywhere. The (seperate) toilet was awful, blobs of either faeces or vomit behind it having been missed by the very cursory clean they do. Maintenance was pretty poor and the place felt a bit run down, the boot locker door was falling off and the entry door code (when reception was shut) was a bit hit and miss. Reasonably convenient for slopes, not ski in ski out but a circa 100m walk to the right of the door downhill for the main plaza with all the lifts, or a 100m to the left to a drag lift up the mountain. Supermarket directly opposite, lots of restaurants and shops in the vicinity. We strongly recommend crepes a go go across the plaza, it's not what it sounds like it's a fantastic restaurant with good prices and probably the best service I've ever experienced in a "normal" restaurant. Parking outside (limited) for 2 hours to unload and load, be warned it is very competitive, the parking is also not cleared of snow so if you haven't got chains on and the roads are snowy you will struggle, there is no car park on site so it's free parking down in one of the other villages and bus it back or as we did 82 euros for the underground car park that's 5 mins walk away and very safe and convenient. We were unlucky and got a party of french lads above us shouting and drinking to circa 11PM then going out clubbing and coming back at circa 3-4AM and continuing, however with the above issues we would visit again if it was cheap, it was well located and generally comfortable and safe, there were no break ins or any kind of problems while we were there. But there are far better hotels/apartments so if it wasn't cheap I'm afraid we wouldn't consider it. Most of the rooms I suspect have good views, ours certainly did off a nice balcony with loungers and cute birds that come for breakfast and tea every day! Wifi is available free in lobby but is very slow.…
