Go to The Tetreat Cafe for breakfast- delicious 😋
Explore Samlesbury Hall. We had the place to ourselves. Being left to explore every nook and cranny on your own was bliss. There is so much to see and do. Then explore the grounds.
Finish it off with waffles 🧇 and ice cream 🍦
We had a wonderful day, and highly recommend a visit, and furthermore Samlesbury Hall and the grounds are free of charge!!

Had a great time at the beautiful Samlesbury Hall. 2 adults and two children 11 and 14. Stayed in one of the Glamping vans for two nights. It has full bathroom and great shower plus ample space outside to have a fire in the firepit. The beds are very comfy. The stay was great, nice spot to start walks from, view the hall (great story inside the house & interactive) and we had a great time in the local Nabs Head pub and food was great. Cafe on site does a full breakfast and the girls had a waffle at the waffleshop which were very special. Overall it was a fantastic weekend and would def go again. The pods are set up in 2/3 so going in a bigger family group or group of mates would be perfect.

I cannot, cannot believe that some visitors have anything to complain about visiting this amazing attraction! Honestly, this place is stunning! Cold? Keep your coat on! Concerned that there aren't any guides? Remember: this is FREE and being a charity depends on your donations - they can't pay for guides to be there all the time - use your phone to scan the QR codes if you want details. Anyway ...
The house and grounds are so beautiful and immediately maintained, whatever the time of year. Take your time to thoroughly look around and experience what both have to offer, you can't fail to be impressed. We loved it, and the Heritage Café was simply the best I've experienced in years - no exaggeration, it's modern, clean, bright, tastefully decorated and the food was gorgeous! Honestly, I can't rave enough about the day we spent in this spectacular place!

Steeped in history the Hall is absolutely beautiful . All the people we encountered were very friendly and helpful . Free to visit and really interesting . Would recommend it . Make sure you have a waffle as they are delicious . Do share though as the helping is super generous .

What a cold damp smelling Hall. Attend a wedding. Absolutely frezzing and as such cold low standard food.Staff unhelpful and unprofessional..We are looking for a wedding venue..definitely not here..

Hi Claire
That’s strange… when you came to the wedding, did you pass through any of the rooms with roaring log fires? There are four of them. We do also have central heating of course and air source heat pumps for the extra cold days.
Our kitchen, much like all professional kitchens, has a hot cupboard to keep plates extra hot and the standard of food we send out is the same for every guest. All our fabulous brides and grooms this winter period have raved about the food so perhaps you are thinking of a different venue?
We have also had lots of thank yous that personally name our friendly and helpful team.
Your feedback is appreciated but we will continue to offer the same high standard of service that makes our brides and grooms very happy.
Thank you

This we really enjoyed. The staff done everything to accommodate my Autistic son bringing items to the sixteen century lodge for us.They accommodated all Michael's needs. They even allowed us the use of one of the shepherd's huts to make hot chocolate and light a pit fire and toast marshmallows and put them on chocolate biscuits which was a lovely experience for Michael.Lots to do there with the stately house free to enter, the children's play area, the mini golf ⛳, the wafflery and the restaurant. All staff were great and caring. The groups are nice to walk around and you can see some small wild life and birds singing in the trees. The afternoon teas are great and the food is the best also the cakes.

We visited last Teusday Oct 17th with the Voel bus day trip. After we arrived we were told that we were to go around by ourselves. There ws no leaflet given out to us. After we went in we went to see different rooms to see who were the families that had been living there and their history. Unfortunately it was very cold in the rooms, there was no heating on and my hands were very cold. I did try and concentrate on the explanitory boards that were around but was distracted by the radio being on. I went on a day trip not to hear about the war in Israel on the news.
I am a trustee of the local museum in our village and we only have a few volunteers helping especially after Covid. We do have a leaflet, and we also take people around to tell them about the Victorian era and the history of the house and the family that lived there from humble beginnings in a shoe maker’s workshop to become a lecturer of Philosophy. When there is a coach of people coming we also give them a background talk so that everyone is welcomed and know what they are going to see.
Our house has 1589 on one of the beams in the sitting room and I know how important and costly is it’s upkeep.
Then I went to the downstairs cafe to order tea, after 10 minutes waiting and being cold.I went to ask where it was as the bus was leaving in a quarter of an hour. Then I was told that they didn’t have any take away cups for me to take with me. I just asked for a refund. I was so glad to arrive at the garden center to warm up and have hot lunch and tea.

Hello tripper
The coach company you came with with contacted us and we made it clear that the free visit they wanted did not have a tour guide, We offered a guide but the coach company was not prepared to pay, we are not sure what the coach company charged you for the visit.
we are more than happy to supply a guide and heating but this was not requested.
we have many leaflets, we are not sure why you couldn't find them.
that's lovely information about your historic house.
we were very busy that day with the coach party and sadly didn't have time for your order which was placed only fifteen minutes before your departure.

We really enjpyed our visit though, being used to National Trust houses, the lack of any staff members in any room to ask about things was a little disconcerting! That said, this is an amazing house, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The waffles are delicous too!
(One small point - the whole upstairs of the house was closed for refurbishment when we visited. While understanding that this is necessary, we were disappointed as we have no idea if or when we'll be able to get back to Samlesbury Hall. Maybe this could be taken into consideration when considering such arrangements - something you may not think about if you work there every day and/or live locally. If it had b een possible tomake a short visit upstairs with a guide at a set time, or similar, that would have been good.)

helloooo
We are thrilled to say that the upstairs is now open.
the reason we could not allow anyone up there was that the work being carried made most of the rooms unsafe for visitors
we hope this makes sense

Good for short stays, we had fun in park and with fire pit and BBQ, obviously around house and grounds when open.
Mini fridge would make it better for longer stays and no TV,

This is my ancestral home as well. My ancestors start with Cospatric de Samlesbury b. 1150 and continue to Gilbert de Croft/Southworth b:1192, then to Gilbert de Southworth b: 1306 Lancashire...etc. My great great grandfather was John Gordon Southworth/Murdock. b: 1836. John was the firstborn of Rascius and Lucinda Southworth. Lucinda died about 6 weeks after his birth and Rascius asked Lucinda's broth and wife to raise John. They adopted him and raised him as a Murdock
We will be visiting Samlesbury Hall this September 2023....would love any information on our relatives! Maggie Wynja (Murdock).

Hellooo Rach,
We have a wedding on Saturday so the Hall and grounds are out of bounds...
So on the Friday all is open till 4pm .... we are also open from 10 am on the Sunday and we have free guided tours with witch Janey .... she is hilarious
Of course we are open every day for breakfasts
Also the waffles are amazing ... Maria who makes the waffles has no idea of portion control. The boys will not go hungry!
See you then

Hello ... no we just have a kettle and tea/coffee and milk ....
But we do have power showers/toilets/memory foam mattresses.
You can have a bbq and a fire pit also enjoy a fab breakfast at the hall together with lunch and maybe even some brilliant food at our events. Please check our website for when you can use the Halls facilities
